We have dined several times at the Inn of Little Washington, Michelin 3 star rated and included in the top 5 restaurants in the world. Why do I mentioned that when providing a review for Le Lingot? Because this restaurant is on the same level as Patrick O’Connell’s Inn!
Chef Fred and his sous chef are highly skilled artists with the ability to deploy refined cooking techniques, resulting in a layering of carefully selected ingredients that burst in your mouth.
Each dish is thoughtfully plated on lovely dinnerware and each dish is a surprise to the diner in that the menu changes daily and is based on fresh ingredients of the day and the creative mind of Chef Fred.
I wish I could do justice in describing some of the dishes but seeing that I don’t speak French, I may have misinterpreted what I was told.
Dishes: egg foam with truffles presented in the shell on a bed of crushed salt, lobster tartlet, oyster in the half shell with foam sauce, foie gras on an egg yolk and bed of sautéd spinach surrounded by mushroom sauce (the raw yolk didn’t break until you cut the foie gras and the flavors in this dish will knock your socks off!), Normandy beef filet with squid ink sauce and herring roe (another wow!) and the Blackberry and Raspberry Sorbet with lemon cream and fresh berries on a bed of crushed almonds was quite lovely. We selected the 3 plate menu and enjoyed more than 3 dishes! If you selected 5 plate menu you’ll enjoy another dish (that night it was a lobster tail) and the other plates are similar to the 3 plate menu - but some seem to be a bigger serving.
The waiter, Martial is friendly, accommodating and attentive to your needs. He was wonderful. And if you have dietary restrictions - no problem, Chef Fred can adjust.
I would be remiss if I didn’t describe the setting. It’s a very lovely and quaint room with about 5 to 6 tables. Intimate experience.
Don’t miss dining here especially if you are a chef or foodie. It was a memorable experience and very personal. I have a feeling that one day you’ll need to make reservations months and months ahead. For now, it’s...
Read moreThis is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, even including ones with Michelin stars. The service is so amazingly gracious and welcoming. The food is beyond compare. I am having a hard time coming up with enough superlatives to express just what a wonderful dining experience we had here. My parents are visiting us in France and we went here for a special dinner and it thoroughly exceeded our expectations. The food is all made with ingredients from the region and the food and wine pairings are divinely inspired. The chef is a true magician and the front of house staff are the most amazing, knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming people you can imagine. If you’re in Honfleur, you owe it to yourself to dine here for a once in a...
Read moreWe saw the google reviews for this restaurant and decided we needed to visit and we changed our trip itinerary specifically to come to Honfleur to eat here and it did not disappoint!
The menu encourages you to "let go" and it was a true culinary experience. Playful textures and powerful flavours that melded and complimented each other, rather than trying to "surprise" you for the sake of it.
The food is both fine dining yet unpretentious and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
There is a heavy emphasis on cream and dairy for those who are lactose intolerant - would recommend having a lacteeze and don't let it put you off because it's not like cream or dairy you get...
