We decided to have dinner here after finding our favourite Honfleur Crêperie (La Crêperie Des Arts) was closed on Wednesdays. Unfortunately it was not a pleasant experience and we were left wishing we had gone elsewhere for our last night of holiday. The staff were very friendly but I'm afraid that is where it stopped for us. Despite having reserved a table we were seated at the back of the restaurant on a platform and it was extremely hot and sticky. We began with a Kir Normande which was very nice but found the food menu to be fairly uninspiring. My husband ordered a Comté and ham Galette. He did enjoy this although the ham was pretty poor quality. I decided to order the goats cheese Galichot. This was extremely disappointing. The Galichot itself was bland and watery and the goats cheese just tasted like cheap cream cheese. A scattering of dry salad leaves around the edge left alot to be desired. Never mind, we thought we'd cheer ourselves up with a classic dessert - a sugar and fresh lemon crêpe. Honestly I don't know how they got this wrong. The crêpes were pre-cooked and warmed so were chewy. Then drenched in so much lemon juice they were painful to eat. I do not have a sweet tooth and love tart fruit but this was on another level! Overall a disappointing evening and an expensive one (overpriced food is to be expected in Honfleur). We would recommend looking elsewhere if you are after a...
Read moreHello, We have eaten in La Cidrerie two times, enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Tried the sweet pancakes and the pancakes made from buckwheat - liked them both. I liked very much a combination of the buckwheat pancake with black pudding and caramelised apples, definitely worth tasting. The place has tables outside and inside, both choices are good for dining, so I would recommend to sit once outside, once to go inside. If you don't speak French, just make a photo of the menu in English outside of the La Cidrerie and upload French language pack in Google Translator to translate the menu if you need because there is no mobile or wi-fi connection when you are inside. The service was a bit slow during peak time, but it was totally understandable, however, the waitresses were young ladies, a bit inexperienced in my humble opinion. Friendly, tolerating our lack of French, just lack of experience to quickly serve all clients when there were a lot of people. Still, very nice place to try different pancakes, French cidre and calvados. Best...
Read moreThe most overpriced low-quality food place you can probably find in Honfleur. There are only 3(!!!) types of Cider presented and the price is outrageously high. For about 150ml ‚glass‘ of ordinary cider you pay €3.8. I wish I saw someone already eating there when we come, when I‘d run away very fast. Crepes, galets etc. that we ordered were not tasty and looked not good too. Thought, they were freshly cooked. Not recommended for either eating or...
