What a disappointment...

The evening started off with a linguistic challenge - we weren't fluent in French and the serving staff were equally good in English and that may have been behind the error in getting us sparkling water rather than still.

The starter of Tomato was divine - unfortunately, we didn't know that was the highlight of the evening and things would only go downhill from then on. The other starter of Eggplant fois gras with Walnut bread was meh. The walnut bread was sweet - not sure if it's meant to be that way but it definitely didn't go with the eggplant

We ordered 3 mains - Peter's fish, Lamb and Rib eye steak for 2. The fish was cooked well, flaking off nicely and tasted nice. The lamb tasted as if it was boiled devoid of any seasoning and getting the meat off the bone was a challenge. We had asked for steak to be medium rare but given the difficulty we had in cutting it, it may have been blue or rare. Again, no seasoning at all and served with BBQ sauce (with no option to change that) and the mash - lumpy!

We looked different and we obviously didn't speak French - was that the reason we were ignored, didn't even served bread and even though we appeared not so happy with the food, no one bothered to check with us

Nous sommes venus dans la région pour le week end de Noël . Nous réservons dans l'après midi du 24 décembre dans ce restaurant où on nous précise d'arriver pour 19h30 . Chose faite nous arrivons à l'heure et là on ne nous trouve pas sur leur plan de réservation et nous demande si on a bien réservé ! Oui oui nous avons bien réservé ! On nous accompagne à notre table et nous donne les cartes avec menus , apéro , carte des vins etc... Nous décidons donc de prendre un apéritif puis de choisir nos plats , mon mari souhaitait une côte de bœuf. La serveuse nous dit " ce soir il n'y a pas de carte c'est un menu unique " . Nous comprenons tout à fait qu'en période de fête un menu unique soit imposé , mais pourquoi on nous ne l'a pas dit l'après midi au téléphone ? Du coup nous jouons le jeu en ce disant c'est pas grave on va rester quand même . Le prix ne nous a pas été énoncé et le menu non plus . On aurait une allergie ou un régime particulier ça aurait été compliqué ....L'entrée arrive on nous annonce l'intitué. Il était très bien . Vient ensuite le plat et là .... Bah pas dénoncé donc on a dû deviner ce qu'on mangeait, je découpe le produit avec mon couteau et la deuxième surprises la volaille pas cuite , couleur très rosé cru et saignante à certain endroit . Je le signal à la serveuse quand elle vient nous débarrasser elle me dit : c'est vrai ?! Je transmet au chef ! Je n'ai donc casiment pas touché à mon plat . Les personnes assises à la table à côté même problème, la serveuse lui dit que c'est une cuisson en ballottine , mais la dame a la même réaction que moi la volaille ne se mange pas rosé ( ce n'ai pas du magret de canard !)vient ensuite l'assiette de fromage très bien et le dessert . Pas mauvais mais pas non plus extraordinaire , en sachant que mon assiette a dû rester un moment sur le passe car ma glasse avait déjà bien fondue arrivée à ma table ! Bref on décide donc de partir et on nous donne notre note . 210€ ! Les menus , donc nous ne connaissions pas l'existance ni le prix était de 80€ par personne . Le regret que j'ai c'est de ne pas avoir goûter leur carte qui avait l'air bien plus appétissante que leur menu imposé .Le restaurant est décoré avec goût .J'aurais aimé un geste commerciale pour mon plat que je n'ai pas touché. C'est dommage car le restaurant je pense a un fort potentiel et leur carte donnait vraiment envie . We were free to choose a table. However we we choose a nice round table in the corner they told us that this table was already reserved. It turned out they wanted to keep the table if a larger group would arrive because the table stayed empty for the rest of the evening. The food was marvellous, specially the maquereau. However we missed the fine service you would expect to go with this. Wine was only delivered on request, as was the water.
