The Vintage Café — Restaurant in Lisieux

We visited this restaurant today, we had the set meal starter and main. My wife had the baked camambert with salad which was well presented and cooked to perfection. I had the seafood starter, consisting of whelks ,prawns and oysters. Having never had oysters I wanted to take the opportunity of trying them. The only word I can think of that describes them is exquisite. Having never had them before I have nothing to compare too but they get a 10 from me. We had moules and frites for main. Very flavoursome and perfectly cooked. The frites where crispy yet fluffy. Perfect. We had intended having a desert but we were to full. I had a kronenberg 1664 and my wife had lemonade. Very poor customer service. When entering the cafe with my partner; I politely asked if I could use the Wi-Fi as I had some work to complete. The response from the owner was somewhat unexpected and certainly beyond unprofessional; ‘I forgot the password’.

I asked if he was serious to which he just laughed and shrugged his shoulder. I decided to stay and ordered two cappuccinos before we’d have lunch; at which point the owner suddenly exploded. He refused the request as he didn’t find it justified that we took up all that space; used his electricity for my laptop and quite rudely asked us to leave.

He might have had a bad day but that is a poor excuse. He should not be in the hospitality sector if he is unable to control himself/his emotions.

Very rude waitress , insist we can only have dinner start at 19:00, even I made a joke if it’s possible 18:55? She answered in a cold face : No !! 19:00 we ask for dinner , she waited 5min to come to the table even that time there are no guests , very bizarre strange arrogant service attitude , both of the female waitresses are the same horrible ! Location is nice I guess they don’t care much of the tourists! What a pity , most of the French restaurants I’ve been in Normandie are full of friendly service except this one ! Oh , don’t bother to speak English to them ! They are all young French waitress, but they can’t be bother to speak English to you !
