Excellent experience here after getting turned away at Bouchon des Cordeliers and the bouchon next door for lunch at 1:30pm. Who stops seating people at 1:30pm for lunch??? Only the French! Ridiculous! Jarring after spending a few weeks in Spain. Well, that's not the case here - really convenient dining times throughout the day, and they serve delicious food. Highly recommended. Now that I know, will come here again!
Professional, courteous, competent, patient, kind service. The waiter here was tres gentil.
Had the classic Lyon prix fixe menu for 29 EUR - salade Lyonnaise, quenelle, and creme brulee with pink pralines. Salade Lyonniase is my favorite salad - the acidity of the vinaigrette cut through the fat perfectly of the generous helping of lardons. The only nit was the egg was hard boiled, rather than soft. The quenelle was fluffy and airy, and the bisque was creamy and light, and actually "bisque-y," unlike the thick paste at a disappointing bouchon. And the pink praline crumble was a cute touch on a perfectly executed creme brulee. A delicious lunch.
The food is similar to what you can get at bouchons. Pretty much the same. The “official” status of bouchon is a complete tourist trap and worthless IMO. Spots like Luna and here are examples that classics can be served perfectly well, and oftentimes better, than the bouchons, which are highly overrated. Come here. Have lunch at 2pm! Be a...
Read moreWe had no idea what we were in for, randomly googling around for something that would pass for traditional yet not be overtly touristy… we translated the menu, saw a nice combination of lyonnaise style food intermingled with other French classics so we rolled the dice and made a reservation…. Lemme tell ya, did not disappoint!! Started with bone marrow…wow!! Perfection.. my dad didn’t want that and the waiter saw his displeasure and came around… my dad wanted, to our dismay, escargot… whilst we lapped down the remains of the bone marrow the snails arrived and to our delight and surprise… they were tender, garlicky buttery heavenly!! I had the duck, he had the andouillette, my mom also had duck and my dad had the beef bourguignon. The sausage was braised to perfection with a Dijon mustard sauce10/10, the duck was medium rare also 10/10, beef was super solid 9/10. We were stuffed, glanced at dessert but couldn’t pull the trigger. He went up to pay and the waiter heard us talking about dessert and how he wanted a shot of green Chartreuse. While the waiter was printing the bill he poured a little taste of the chartreuse complimentary…. Food here was solidly some of the best ever and combine service better than most we ever get in France you got a place...
Read moreLovely place for dinner. Was a bit skeptical before booking as some previous review crticised their food quality and value. Went on a quiet Monday evening, end up the food was absolutely outstanding.
Ordered liver pate, beef tartare with vegetables and a glass of white. Both are traditional dishes but with a pleasant modern touch. So tasty that I wiped the dishes with bread and finished everything just by myself.
As a big tartare lover, a previous review mentioned their beef tartare is tasteless...I don't understand them at all. Some bits were a bit chewy, can improve on the cut and processing but the seasoning was just about right. Instead of serving it with toast, the vegetable chips is a magic touch and stopped me from downing the whole bread basket.
They didn't charge for water, bread and service! Great value and portion.
I don't speak French and the waitress was not able to explain the menu in English but fair enough. Service was friendly and attentive overall.
Highly recommended and would...
