I would not recommend this place. The food was less than average. Fish and chips had absolutely no flavor. Filet de Dorade had unappetizing texture and taste. Escargot (snails) was good and the only saving grace. Among the 3-4 desserts we tried, Pana Cotta was the only decent one. There were two people managing the place, a young girl and a slightly older guy (in his 30's perhaps). The girl was pleasant and professional. The guy was not. We were initially seated outside on the street (not under the awning). As we were waiting for our food, it started raining. No one came to inquire about our situation. I went up to the main entrance and asked the guy if we could be seated inside. The guy rolled his eyes (which even the rest of our party could see from where they were seated) before re-seating us inside. This was rude to say the least. You may have seen some American movies in which French waiters are shown treating American tourists with contempt; well, there is a kernel of truth in that stereotype and it must have been derived from waiters like the guy at this restaurant. We should have gone to the restaurant right next door. As for the atmosphere, each of us must have ended up smoking the equivalent of a cigarette each. The customers seated outside were smoking non-stop and the smoke was blowing inside, right in our direction. Overall, not a...
Read morePlease avoid this restaurant at all costs. The quenelle was disappointing, the sauce was awful, practically inedible. The duck confit was decent, but dry. If you have no other choice but to dine here, avoid ordering any desserts. I personally watched them pull out a tray of cling wrap covered pie from god knows where, and serve it with a side of supermarket whipping cream to unsuspecting guests. We asked for a tiramisu, and we got some kind of strawberry yoghurt concoction that was covered in cheap pink sugar icing, which had an aftertaste that was so bad I felt like throwing up after a single spoon. Had to get some gelato after from a different place to get the taste out of my mouth. The bathroom is cramped and dirty, and the entire enterprise seems to run not to actually serve good food, but on the hopes and prayers that no one figures out their ruse so that they can keep raking in money for as long...
Read moreLe Petit Bouchon de la Place is in a charming and touristic area of Old Lyon, but unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the setting or the prices.
I ordered the chef’s burger, which was very underwhelming - just a plain patty and buns with two or three slices of onion. No sauce, no sides, nothing that justified the name or the price. The fries were cold, and even after asking for a new batch, they still came out cold. That was disappointing.
On the positive side, the escargot was actually very tasty and well-prepared. That dish was the highlight of the meal.
Overall, I give this place 3 stars. It’s not terrible, but for the prices they charge, they could definitely do better, especially with attention to detail and...
