Chez Angèle — Restaurant in Marseille

15 Oct 25- Visited on a Wednesday evening at 7.15pm. We offered ourselves a seat indoors because the male owner was busy chatting with someone at the patio. No one came to us to issue us menus within 5 minutes of waiting, and since I saw a pile of menus, I took one myself. After 10 more minutes, no one came to our table. So I called the burly male owner, who was busy chatting with local customers who were coming in and out of the establishment for takeaway orders. He replied with a curt "oui". 5 minutes later, he still did not come to our table, so we left because there was zero hospitality. This was 7.35pm.

Ironically, I left my mobile phone when we exited the establishment. When we came back to retrieve the lost phone, a new lady staff was about to give us back the phone. But the male owner said to her to stop, and became defensive, rowdy and sounding almost about to pick a fight, asking, "why you leave?" with dramatic hand gestures. Mind you he is a Caucasian beefy man and I am an Asian male who would stand no chance. After one minute of negotiating with him despite him "not knowing English", he reluctantly returned me my lost phone. While he was nice enough to return the phone after we exited without ordering food, I would not wish this kind of non-existent service to other tourists. Marseille being a non-so-safe place as it already is, this incident...

Absolutely loved this restaurant! It’s an Italian joint serving authentic taste. The staff were so warm and welcoming. The food was outstanding. It was fresh, it hit all the right spots. We tried their Truffle pasta and it is safe to say it was the best I’ve had so far. Their Pizza’s are unreal!!! They’re so good and freshly made in the woodfire. Their Tiramisu is also delicious and a must try. We ended up coming to this place twice during our 3 day trip. I highly recommend everyone to try this restaurant....

Really a BAD experience restaurant . We waited 15 minutes to be served . We ordered 3 beers and 3 pizzas (simple). The waiter came 15 min later with the beers only. We asked why he didn't bring our pizza and why the customers next to us, that arrived half an hour later, have their pizza already served . The waiter left and came back saying the restaurant couldn’t serve more pizzas. 👀. We could not believe how inefficient they were....
