If you're looking for a truly special dining experience in Marseille, look no further than this enchanting little restaurant. Nestled on a charming side street (give me a hint about the location if you'd like!), this hidden gem offers an unforgettable combination of warmth, flavor, and affordability.
The food here is simply divine. Each dish is a symphony of taste, bursting with fresh, seasonal ingredients. From the first bite, you'll know this isn't your average bistro fare. It's a culinary journey for your palate, and the prices are incredibly reasonable, making it a fantastic value.
But the magic doesn't stop there. The owner, a total charmer, runs the front of house and adds another layer of delight to the experience. It's clear that he has a deep understanding of flavor and uses fresh, seasonal ingredients to create dishes that are both innovative and delicious. Each dish is a testament to the owner's incredible culinary vision. and has a knack for recommending the perfect wine to complement your chosen dish. He's always happy to answer questions and make suggestions, ensuring a truly personalized dining experience.
The entire ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a original french dinner, a fun night out with friends, or even a solo indulgence. This restaurant is easily one of the most delightful and flavorful experiences I've had in Marseille. ...
Read moreAverage food, utterly shocking service. Never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. Their booking system told us they had free tables for 2 hours + from 7pm. When we arrived at 7pm they took one look at us with a child and said we could have the table for 1 hour!! Everyone around us didn't have a reservation either and was treated completely differently. Was made to feel throughout the entire joyless meal that we were utterly unwelcome. Asked for a highchair, didn't have one (absolutely fine) but also magically didn't have any cushions for our child to sit on. Then the waitress took away her chair! Didn't have the intelligence to bring plates (at a sharing tapas restaurant). Never came back and checked on us once. Or smiled. Or treated us as anything more than an inconvenience. We got the message and spent the entire meal taking it in turns to take our child for a walk round the neighborhood.
Told us they weren't a "child friendly" restaurant, as if it's an acceptable thing to discriminate against people under 18 in 2024. It's a completely normal restaurant, not a nightclub. Fine, I'm not asking for special treatment, I'm asking you to treat me and my child like human beings who have paid you to cook our dinner and serve it like we aren't dirt...
Read moreCote Rue is a charming restaurant in the Panier Quarter that makes their food from local market-bought products.
I read ‘bouillabaisse’ is a dish that you must try in Marseille. Cote Rue makes this fish soup with three different types of fish (I forget the names…they were in French) and it comes with bread in cute brown bag and some mustard butter. I’m not really a fish-soup-type-person but I really enjoyed this!!! The dish had a distinctive fishy aroma, but the combination of mustard butter and bread mellowed down the intensity.
Cote Rue was a bit on the expensive side but the cuisine is made with a lot of care and the presentation of the food is impressive.
On google the restaurant opens at 18:30 but they only take bookings from 19:00. The service is really quick. Sometimes a little too quick. I would call and make a...
