Tourist trap âŹ38 menu. Suckered in by the promise of the last of this yearâs morels! A joke- I booked based on reviews and was looking forward to a treat - old school French cooking still does it for me done well. Sadly it was my worst meal in years. I hardly ever review but I truly feel fleeced. The gravadlax was a generous portion of flabby salmon- no sign of dill, served with baked frozen rolls ( viva the 70âs) . This was followed by skate for my wife and octopus for me - both served in a large pond of predominantly condensed milk with I think rice? This sweet âambrosiaâ mostly remained on the plate, and Iâm really not a fussy eater. The octopus tentacle sauce was enhanced with some fluorescent cheap curry powder (if youâre from UK or Ireland - the take away Chinese chip gravy variety - the 70âs keep giving). We both had Margret of duck. Shoe leather and soggy skin, and the condensed milk appeared again in the sauce which was supposedly âmorelâ, although a fried button mushroom half was the only clue to any fungi. It was served with a slop of sweet potato and an over cooked carrot. The roasted red pepper was quite nice. At this point I explained to the waitress I was unhappy. I asked to end the meal and not have the desert , which arrived anyway and I was told it couldnât be deducted. Very limited wine list, so went for the Chateau Lancryre Lac de Figuiers rose which was very ordinary and retails for âŹ9, but âŹ35 for the poor punter here. I paid in full, but felt obliged to rant in the hope somebody will wade through my diatribe.

That being said, maybe we came in an off night but the main food was very poorly seasoned and the wine pairing did not match well. An example, when I supplemented the cheese they still gave a glass of champagne. It completely ruined the champagne as you never serve champagne with the cheese course. I will state, to be fair in the review, the cheeses selected were nice cheeses. Also, the entrees we selected were good. Avis initial :Nous Ă©tions venus en dĂ©but dâannĂ©e. ExtrĂȘmement déçus par la quantitĂ© proposĂ©e (« souris dâagneau » Ă©miettĂ©e et disposĂ©e sous forme de deux petits cercles dans lâassiette), mĂȘme chose pour le pain que nous avons rĂ©clamĂ©, nous sentons que faire des Ă©conomies est leur premiĂšre prĂ©occupation : 2 petits bouts de pain perdus dans la corbeille. Cela donne vraiment une mauvaise image de lâĂ©tablissement qui a lâair de vouloir rogner sur la quantité⊠De plus, les deux serveuses Ă©taient trĂšs froides et malaisantes (nous fixaient et critiquaient des clients).
