The bar "la plage" was a place I always stop at when I had a flight: order some food, a beverage and a relaxing drink. Since the last time I visited, the bar has been remodeled with a more modern look. The remodeling is good for this style but it lost the charm it had along with amenities and prices: beer prices had a rise from ~9€ (affligen) to a round 10 (Grimbergen) some socket to charge phone or other were available around the bar, now it is a request to the very nice staff to plug it to sockets internal to the bar the bar no longer takes "ticket restaurant" which are coupon french worker can use to buy food in some establishment. My global feeling is that the bar got a more modern look which can appeal to some customers but some parts are strange: yellow tiling and black wood around the bar: a lighter wood would better fit and the yellow tiling might be a reference to something but I do not know which one. the canopee supported by storage for stock bottles seems odd here, it would be better in a regular bar, it doesn't makes me think of a beach (plage). Overall, it seems like a modern take on this business but losing the appeal it had. Note: A few years ago, I went to the "la plage" in terminal 1 which was just awesome with different types of seating all making making me remember chill time...
Read moreIs this one of the worst run bars I have been to? Probably not but it is definitely up there. As I sit here relaxed because of a three hour delayed flight it seems nobody and I mean nobody seems to want to serve me or the gentleman sitting three seats away. I have figured out that I have to leave my seat and go to the other side of the bar to be served but none of the three people behind the counter have the idea to explain that to me. The garbage bags behind the counter are piled up and that doesn’t seem to bother any of the staff. The drinks preparation is shockingly slow and nobody here seems to know what the job of a bartender is. If it wasn’t so amusing I would be beside myself with anger! If apathy, incompetence and an unabashed disdain for the general public is your thing this is the bar for you. It’s a good job they have a captive audience because if this was a bar anywhere outside an Airport it wouldn’t last a week. I am off to the other side of the counter now to order a beer,...
Read moreWhy can I buy a gin tonic but not a tonic water on its own? Because this hopeless bar only supplied big bottles of flat Schweppes tonic water. This is very stupid and the lovely staff can do nothing about it. The patron was not available. And clearly couldn't care less. . Try a different bar, this one is not designed to offer a good experience to its customers. However. I did have a bottle of badoit and a Campari which I mixed together and my wife was happy with the rest of the badoit. This is probably an oversight by the establishment but being French they probably aren't keen to improve their service. Pity but some French people just don't get it. Whilst most understand...
