CASA ELLI Ristorante & Pizzeria 🧡 — Restaurant in Nice

Not for English tourists. My worst experience in any cafe during my entire 6 week Europe trip. The cafe was hectic upon entrance, and we wanted takeout so we went to the bar to order two pistachio croissants and two cappuccinos. She spoke to us back in French and then went on to help others. She eventually handed me one pistachio croissant and continues to speak in French and hand the rest of the pistachio croissants (a bunch of them) to the NEXT customer (who ordered them in French and paid cash but were now in and out before me). Then when I asked her for the second pistachio croissant and referred to the ones she handed the other customer she finally said in English they were all out. She didn’t even offer to give me another flavour, so I had to ask for which ones they did have (since upon arrival they clearly had many pistachio ones so now I was confused). Then we waited again as she continued to help other customers. Finally another barista finally came to ask me again what I ordered, grab the second croissant and cash me out (appreciated this barista for helping!).

My husband and I spent two weeks in France, including one in Nice, and this is by far had the best espresso and croissants during our entire trip. Luckily, we discovered it on our first day in Nice, and went back every morning because we knew we found the best espresso and croissants. The espresso has a great flavor and density, and are perfectly balanced. The croissants are crispy, then fluffy and airy inside with delicious fillings. We tried them all, and pistachio was our favorite!

We did dinner one night there. They just offer a couple of items on the menu but do it really, really well. We had fantastic focaccia and seafood pasta.

This restaurant truly cares not only about getting it right, but doing everything exceptionally well. Do yourself a favor: avoid the tourist traps down the street with menus that are basically novels, and treat yourself to some Italian delicacies from some...

Fantastic restaurant! Note: They do not have an english menu and the menu changes daily. However, you can find the menu on their instagram, which has a built in translate feature.

You will likely have to wait for your table and order because they're usually very busy. However, it is worth the wait. I have been here several times and the food is incredible. Plus, it is cheaper than most of the restaurants of similar quality in the more touristy parts of the city.

While usually slow, the service is otherwise excellent as the employees seem to have a passion for their craft. They made extra efforts to communicate with us in English and even translated the entire menu for us. Furthermore, they regularly gifted us, and other patrons, things like water and coffee.
