Espuma — Restaurant in Nice

Not a bad place to have dinner. It's quieter than the restaurants further into the town center and that's actually quite nice. You only get people walking to and from the beach.

Food was good. I had to compromise and eat fish for the main dish as there were little vegetarian choices (and I'd eaten pasta so many times already). But the meal was well cooked. Starter was tomatoes and burrata, which was very fresh. Dessert was a slightly less imaginative pavlova.

Unfortunately no greeting at all. Completely ignored by a miserable waitress. We were reluctantly handed menus by the same waitress who had a very unhappy look on her face. She then became extremely irritated and agitated when the other 2 members of our group attempted to join us sit down. They were immediately made to feel very uncomfortable to the point where we felt that we must leave. No drinks, no food. A gentleman asked if we were staying, by that point it was too late. Dined here with my family twice in 3 days on recent stay in Villefranche—first time for lunch sitting outside with magnificent view and second time inside for a late (by American standards) dinner. Both were magnificent experiences— I recommend the scallops and the tuna main dishes, as well as the sea bream ceviche appetizer— all were among the best seafood dishes I’ve had anywhere.
