Les Garçons - A Culinary Gem Near Nice, France
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our recent dining experience at Les Garçons, nestled just outside of Nice, France, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped into the charming, warmly-lit court yard, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance perfectly blended casual elegance with an inviting, cozy atmosphere, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.
We started our meal with the octopus appetizer, and it was a revelation. The octopus was perfectly tender, delicately seasoned, and paired with an exquisite array of flavors that left us savoring every bite. It was a perfect prelude to the main courses, which were nothing short of spectacular.
For the main course, we indulged in the steak and scallop risotto. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with a rich, savory sauce that elevated the dish to new heights. The scallop risotto was equally divine, with creamy, velvety rice that complemented the succulent scallops beautifully. Each mouthful was a testament to the chef’s meticulous attention to detail and passion for excellence.
Adding to our delight, the seasonal craft cocktails and wine pairings were outstanding. Each cocktail was a work of art, crafted with creativity and precision, offering unique, refreshing flavors that perfectly complemented our meal. The wine pairings were equally impressive, with each selection enhancing the flavors of our dishes and providing a delightful journey through the region’s finest vintages.
The service at Les Garçons was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Their recommendations were spot on, and their warmth and professionalism enhanced our dining experience tremendously.
Given the quality of the food, the impeccable service, and the delightful atmosphere, we were genuinely surprised that Les Garçons has yet to be awarded one or more Michelin stars. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem that deserves to be celebrated on the global stage.
If you find yourself near Nice, do not miss the opportunity to dine at Les Garçons. It’s a culinary experience that will linger in your memory long after the meal is over. We cannot recommend it highly enough and will undoubtedly return on our next visit to the region. Bravo to the entire team at Les Garçons for creating such a magical...
Read moreThis hidden gem delivers not only exceptional food, but exceptional value, especially in the context of the rather pricey & glitzy Côte d'Azur. Avoid the more expensive (yet vastly inferior) restaurants along the waterfront in Villefranche & head one block back to the quaint backstreets & courtyard where this delightful restaurant resides. The (French only) chalkboard menu is a testament to both the chef's skills & commitment to seasonal produce. Although entirely in French, if you don't have the language skills to interpret it the wait staff are very friendly & helpful, and if you are open minded enough to follow their recommendations you can't go wrong. Mains don't cost more than €26, and that is reserved for delicacies such as fillet streak with trimmings like foie gras or black truffles that would cost 2-3x more in most other establishments (and would be executed half as well in our experience). On our recent trip we ate in over 15 different restaurants - from local recommendations to Michelin guide - between Cannes & Cap Ferrat, and this was the standout meal on our journey, with the added bonus of being one of the cheapest! We even travelled back from Cannes to Villefranche to eat there the next day it was that good. Highly...

To start, I had the Goats cheese burrata. The dish was excellent, particularly the inclusion of the shaved asparagus that gave the dish enough zing to cut through the fatty tones of the cheese.
For the main course, we had the prawn skewers and the famous Lamb Shank. The prawn skewers were brilliant, simply cooked, and came with a side of mashed potatoes. The Lamb Shank is a must-get for any fan of lamb. The meat falls off the bone, and the lightness of the mashed potatoes raises it to another level without leaving you feeling bloated or tired.
For dessert, we had the Apple tart, which came flambéed. While it wasn’t my favorite dish, the others at the table enjoyed it.
The atmosphere was magical. The only minor annoyance was the loudness of guests as they got up from the table, but this can fade into the background.
Overall, excellent, and I encourage all tourists to come here for a...
