I am absolutely appalled at the rudeness and abhorrent lack of human decency at this bar and restaurant.
We had stopped to get a drink from this restaurant and BAR before 12:00pm (meaning that it was still the morning).
We waited several minutes for the staff to acknowledge us (despite the fact the establishment was empty) and were then offered a table.
After reviewing the menu, we decided to order drinks. We were waiting a long while despite the staff walking by our table in an empty restaurant, and then we were finally served. The waitress declared that they don’t usually just serve drinks at their bar and aggressively stacked the glasses and cutlery set at the table before going inside. She confirmed they would do it just this once in a snarky tone.
Then, one of the other waiting staff heard her put through our order and began arguing with her and they talked about us loudly making me feel very uncomfortable. This member of staff then made a point of standing by our table in an intimidating fashion shaking his head at us and muttering about us. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable - as a disabled woman, I felt unsafe and his behaviour was incredibly confrontational and unnecessary.
I cannot believe they would treat their (rare) customers in this way, I have never been disrespected in such an awful way. I turned to him and said “‘no, no, thank you, goodbye” and grabbed my walking stick before walking away with my partner. He followed us out of the restaurant shouting “thank you so much, goodbye!” and this behaviour was not only passive aggressive but terrifying.
Do not brand yourself as a restaurant and bar if you don’t want to serve your customers drinks without them paying 20 euros for some overpriced corn on the cob in a ramekin. I still feel incredibly uncomfortable and don’t think I will ever forget the ignorance of this place.
You never expect anything like this to happen when you are on holiday and this has really knocked me back. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Don’t shout at...
Read moreHonestly, I feel like it's more of a 3-star place, but hey, maybe fancy dining just isn't my thing. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, though the vibe is a bit uptight, probably because we swung by during the off-season, and there were more staff than customers. On the upside, the cocktails were a hit! Now, onto the grub – we went for the 8-course menu (39.5 euros a pop). It felt like a random mix of dishes that didn't quite gel together. You've got your street food-flavored tacos hanging out with a high-class perch fillet on manioc polenta. No biggie if everything tasted amazing, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It seemed like they were more into creating surprise combos than nailing the flavors (like Seabass ceviche, pears, frosted grapes, mirabelle plum, and bergamot, with pandan foam; and Matcha tea cheesecake, umeshu mirabelle coulis, black sesame ice cream – they sound like flavor explosions, but trust me, they're just kinda weird, and you end up more confused than satisfied). But hey, maybe I'm just a regular Joe who's used to regular tastes, not this fancy dining stuff. If you're into street food, you might wanna stick to your comfort zone here. The staff is cool, though, and most of them speak English well. And no...
Read moreIncredible family night at the Icô restaurant! What a beautiful, lively, cozy and magical place! Went there for dinner for a special celebration and was magnificently received by the team. As soon as you get to the Ico terrasse, you can feel its own atmosphere and environment.. a mix of Peruvian, Spanish, Mexican and other Latino influences that are fully reflected by the music, the cocktails and the food proposed. We tried different cocktails - my favorite was the Star Fair (so beautiful with the champagne foam..)- as well as delicious and super well presented tapas to start (highly recommend the assortment). Then we tried many different plates to share as a table (incredible miso eggplant, fab fish ceviche, loved the shrimps, the pork, the meat, but also the truffled potatoes..!!!). And of course, had to have the great CHURROS and the chocolate « tears » dessert (a must have if you are a chocolate lover).
I cannot wait to come again and try the rest of the menu… but had a wonderful experience at the ICO and would recommend it 1000% for any shared moment with a date, your family, or even just friends to enjoy beautiful cocktails...
