Review: Kalōs – Honest Mediterranean Flavors with a Warm Family Welcome 📍 11 Rue Bonaparte, 06300 Nice, France
As someone accustomed to critically reviewing restaurants across Europe—and currently ranked in the top 10 for food reviews in Copenhagen—I arrived at Kalōs with both curiosity and high expectations. Nestled in the charming Rue Bonaparte of Nice’s vibrant old quarter, this Greek-inspired bar-restaurant immediately stands out for its relaxed yet polished atmosphere and genuinely warm service.
I’m here with my family, and from the very beginning, the staff made us feel welcome without being intrusive—a rare balance that deserves mention. The menu is clear, compact, and inviting, with a focus on Mediterranean classics and house specialties. We opted for a well-rounded selection to test both their plates and signature bites.
What we ordered: • Assiettes: • Kefta (Beef) – Served with hummus, aubergine caviar, and a crisp Greek salad. The kefta was beautifully spiced, juicy, and balanced well with the creamy spreads. • Souvlaki (Chicken) – Perfectly grilled and tender, subtly marinated. A safe but satisfying choice, ideal for younger diners too. • House Specialty: • Parsley and Feta Pastry – Delicate layers of phyllo filled with fresh herbs and creamy feta. Rich but not heavy, and a perfect starter or side. A standout bite. • Drinks: • Local beer (crisp and refreshing). • A glass of sparkling wine, dry and well-chosen, pairing nicely with both meats and mezze-style sides.
First impressions:
The quality of the ingredients is evident, and everything tasted honest and freshly prepared. The balance between seasoning and authenticity is well achieved—nothing felt overly touristic or gimmicky. The portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming, and pricing felt fair for both location and quality.
Service:
Friendly, attentive, and genuinely accommodating toward families with children—something I value deeply when dining with mine. No pretension, just honest hospitality.

Overall Verdict: 4.5/5 ⭐️ Kalōs is a hidden gem in Nice’s bustling center—a place where Mediterranean comfort food is served with intention and kindness. I look forward to discovering more from the menu, and I hope the flavors continue to surprise as pleasantly as the atmosphere did.
Definitely a recommended stop for travelers who value both taste...
Read moreNice little strettamente food greek place in Old Town Nice, not too far from Café Turin. The staff is friendly and funny but a little abstent minded: first they thought we were leaving and they did not clean our tanke form the previous customers', and then they forgot to bring a plate of Moussaka we ordered. Never mind. We arrived at 9pm during a rainy evening, and it was crowded. People were a little loud, but that was obviously not their fault. We got a bottle of Retsina, which we eventually found to be overpriced to 25 euros (exactly the prifece 5 glasses) and then we got a bottle of red wine which was good. We ordered falafel, tsatsiki, pork and chicken pita. All was good, especially the hummus and the eggplant side. Tsatsiki had too much dill, possibly an Armenian variation (owners were not Greek). Prices were adequate to French standards, definitely not street food range. I could return just for a quick pita and a coke, which seems what locals enjoy. Moussaka was definitely different form what I am used but good nonetheless, if not...
Read moreWe were a bit jet-lagged on our first night in Nice and just wanted something casual but tasty; and Kalos looked like the perfect spot with great reviews.
The location is stunning. I was a little worried it might feel too touristy, but we were welcomed like old friends. Even though it was full, they found us a table in just 5 minutes. Such a warm, family-run vibe!
And the food? So good! We left completely stuffed. The service was super friendly, the place was spotless, and everything we ordered was full of flavor. What more can you ask for?
I had the chicken pita, and the others went for the kofte pita. The Greek salad was also really fresh, but the warm pita wraps were the real standout. And don’t forget the house made french fries! Wow!
We loved everything about it and would totally recommend it. Such...
