This place was highly recommended to me by a local for affordable and authentic French food and I'm so glad that I'm able to have my first dinner in Nice here!

First, the ambiance here is amazing, quiet and cosy with heated outdoor seating. I picked the 'greedy potato duck breast with foie gras' which was highly recommended by their English speaking staff in their daily special, not long after, they served complimentary bread with cheese and olives which was a pleasant surprise.

Then the well plated main course was served personally to the table by the friendly chef, and he returned again with complimentary basket of bread as well as a jar of honey and he gestured to drizzle the honey over the foie gras and duck breast. My mind was blown as I started digging into the food as the foie gras really just melted in my mouth with the fragrance blending well with the honey and the slices of duck breast was better than any than I had before!

As I was slowly dining alone, I could see the chef personally serving the food to every table as well as occasionally genuinely checking in with the diners if the food is going well, and sometimes he would be humbly standing by the kitchen and eagerly looking out if every of his patrons are doing okay with their meals.

Halfway through my main course which was a ginormous amount of food, the chef came to check in on my food and I gestured thumbs up, he looked at my half empty plate of food and went purposefully back into the kitchen and to my surprise, then came back out with a bowl of salad drizzled with vinaigrette. A short while after my basket of bread was finished, the chef came by again and replenished it.

I was just awed by the amount of dedication and how meticulous the chef and staff are in ensuring that the diners get the best possible gastronomic and customer service experience possible.

I then finished off the meal with a creme brûlée dessert and it was also exquisitely presented! The custard below was not too sweet and complemented well with the caramelized crust.

In total I paid less than 30 euros for the mains and the dessert, but I received a priceless dining experience with the personal touch of the chef that's better than even the high end restaurants. Must try...

This was a treat. Good food and even better service. Took a three day trip to Nice and ended up going here for dinner twice. Pre-meal bread was soft and the honey that came with it was perfectly balanced. I was torn between two dishes for my entree and they offered to make me a half-and-half for no additional cost! Both were incredible. The owner came around to our table and recommended I drizzle some honey onto my entree; I was skeptical but it was fantastic. We ordered creme brulee for dessert and it was the best creme brulee I've ever had.

They recognized us on second night and I ordered the rump steak. Obviously rump steak isn't the best cut of meat, but it was executed well enough. The salad on the side had just the right amount of dressing and flavor. However, the real star of this dish was the potatoes. Soft, creamy, and full of flavor. I was upset when I had finished it. On this night, they accidentally poured us the wrong wine. No big deal. We spoke up and they fixed it immediately, plus they gave us extra salad and free tiramisu for dessert without us having to ask (and I must say, the tiramisu was amazing)!

It doesn't even end there. Our third night, we were walking around Nice looking for crepes. We walked into a restaurant that looked like it had good crepes, and the owners of La Femme were eating there! We only wanted crepes, but the waitress said they were done for the night and the La Femme owners tried to argue on our behalf in French saying that it would only take 15 minutes. All around incredible people that just happen to make incredible food....

I stopped in midweek at 1030am for brunch and the place was empty but open. I was seated in the best table in the window with two leather club chairs. The decorations in this restaurant are charming and welcoming. The server was equally so. I opted for the greedy with omlette and hot chocolate. I heard the server slicing the bread after she put my order in. As she served the bread, she explained about the bread and jam varieties.

I normally don't eat much bread or jam, but since they were there I tried them all. Then I was trying them on different breads and it was magical. White bread with raspberry jam was my favorite followed closely by the thick dark slice with the spiced apple. Yum. None if them were too sweet and all were packed with fresh fruit. Really great offerings!

The omlete was simple hot and fresh, adorned with blanched veggies and fresh herbs. It was accompanied by a dressed rocket salad and small fruit cocktail. Everything was delicious and I especially enjoyed the interplay of sweet jam/bread combinations against the savory and perfectly seasoned omlette. And one cannot forget the generous serving of perfectly made hot chocolate. It was divine!

This restaurant is well served by an obviously well conditioned team that works together well. Since I was alone in the restaurant, I could hear the conversation among them and it fills the space with a hood energy.

I whole heartedly recommend this delightful restaurant if you enjoy bread and jam! My interest is also piqued for their lunch options....

The atmosphere was charming (although the washroom could have used improvement). The service was delightful, accommodating, also charming, helpful, and responsive. The only thing lacking was asking us why we ate so little of the main dish. But maybe she knew the answer… the lamb was not great. It was far too sweet- so sweet it makes me think they may have been trying to cover up an off taste in the meat. The starter was good not great, the crème brûlée was insufficiently brûlée-d and came with a side of whipped cream or something else unnecessary, the bread was good, I think. Most of the first part of the meal was wiped out of my memory- it was nice enough- but we spent waaaaaaay too much money for the meal we had. And then I was ill all night, seemingly food related. Maybe it had nothing to do with the dinner. We’ll never know. I feel a little sad writing this review, because the people were really friendly. Perhaps give it a try but stay away from the lamb. Even if it looks nice in the photo.
