Arrive there no one helped us out, so we thought we could sit anywhere. Got told to get out off the seats to check our passe sanitaire after sitting for 10min. After 20min we got asked what we wanted. Waited sometime for our drinks wondering why it was taking so long, And then waited 30min to get our food (the place was not busy) at this point we have been at Ma Nolan's for about an hour. okay that's fine maybe they had stuff to do in the kitchen.. Tried the Cajun chicken pasta, was told it wasn't spicy so I gave it a try. I thought I would like it but was waaaay too spicy I only had 2 bites. My friend had the same thing and they said it was overly spicy and they eat spicy regularly.. The girl that took our order just said "oh sorry" but didn't offer for maybe another option..all she said was "if you order something else you have to still pay for this plate". Again a plate I practically did not touch. At that point I just didn't care to eat anything. Asked another employee that we wanted some more drinks because no one was coming towards us, so we had to get up and look for someone and the man said "that's not my job", we understand if that's not your job but get someone who can help us. Instead he just walked away and we had to wait another 20min just to order another pint of beer. The girl forgot so we asked again after waiting 20min we finally got our second drinks. And when we were done for the night, almost done with our drinks we said we were ready to pay with card. The girl did not come back for another 15 to 20min and we told her again if we could pay... understandable she might have forgotten. She was sweet but what was annoying was that instead of grabbing the machine to pay by card she went to talk to her co-workers and didn't come back with the machine for about 10min. My friend and I were very annoyed but we stayed calm and just thought of it as one of those nights. At that point we just wanted to leave. It was my first time going but felt like the service for the client...
Read moreWas in Ma Nolan’s tonight for a drink with my fiancé, we got engaged in Nice last night. Initially everything was great, lots of sport on TV, live music (from what I heard he was very good). I ordered two gin and tonics and the price was very reasonable. We sat at the bar right in front of the servers and drank our drink. My fiancé wanted to get a picture taken outside of a building next door and said to the female bar staff can you look after our drinks for 2 minutes while we go outside and take a picture, she said yes no problem (these are the drinks I had paid for 20 minutes earlier). We are taking a picture outside the building next door and the Irish bar man (I’m Irish also) comes up to us and said you can’t leave the premises and starts getting aggressive, saying you can’t leave without paying, I thought he was joking as I had paid him for the drinks 20 mins earlier. I showed him proof on my phone. His defence was, I’ve served about 200 people tonight (the bar was quiet at the time). I ordered and paid for the drink 20 mins earlier and sat at the bar in front of him but him serving 200 people makes it okay for him to accuse two people of stealing (in front of the couple who took our photo). He was arrogant and very dismissive. Ruined a great night for me and my fiancé and there was no apology at all. When he realised he was wrong he should have managed the situation, he didn’t, he just got defensive. Extremely...
Read moreSo we visited Ma Nolan's Irish Pub upon recommendation from Trip Advisor (primarily as I was in search of a place in Nice to watch live sports).
Upon entry, there were lots of different screens, all showing different matches (my football heaven). As we were scanning, looking around for the Man Utd game, we were then warmly welcomed by the staff at the bar, who asked us which game we'd like to watch. He then took us to a nice area to watch the game and provided the menu.
For food, we ordered a cheeseburger and chips and chicken quesadillas. The cheeseburger was nicely prepared, the bun had a nice crunch to it, and the medium well beef was cooked nicely. The quesadillas were really tasty. Cheese was nicely melted in between the chicken.
For drinks, we ordered 1664 Blanche, Desperados, and 4 x Jaggers
The people inside were mostly friendly, the pub offered your traditional varied crowd and had the feel you were back in the UK.
The staff were excellent, some spoke little English, and I little French, but still did their best to communicate and others spoke English perfectly which of course was a massive help. All in all, I have a good experience and would return here for a relaxing evening of sport,...
