Osteria da Carlo — Restaurant in Nice

It was one of the last restaurants during our trip. Used google to make my choices. The restaurant has tables only outside so there was no place to hide from 35’ heat. It was very hard to sit while eating. I wouldn’t go fo many dishes as well since it was so hot. Would be great to have some cooling option for the guests. Three of us had different pasta variations. Vongole, seafood and kids tomato pasta. And these were amazing. All well cooked, with balanced amount of sauce. Just perfect. I loved it so much I convinced my family to go again to the same place the next evening which was our last evening for the whole vacation. This time i chose tuna tartar and same vongole pasta. I confirmed with the waiter that tuna was fresh. Well. When i just took the first bite I felt the taste was weird and different to what I had before. I Should have said something right away but didnt want to raise a complaint. So i finished the dish. My same vongole pasta missed on the sauce and was a bit dry this time , wasnt same as previous evening. The stomach pain started already when i was waiting for the check. When we were seated, we explained that my wife was not feeling well and would only have a small dish, while my son and I planned to order both a starter and a main course. Initially, everything seemed fine, until a local couple arrived, and the entire atmosphere shifted. Despite being three guests at a two-person table, we were abruptly told that we must order a minimum of three starters and three main courses, or leave the restaurant. Such treatment was shocking and completely unacceptable. What made the situation even more disturbing was the clear difference in how locals versus tourists were treated. While nearby Italian and local guests were welcomed without issue, we were made to feel unwelcome and pressured. They do not care about customers.

We arrived at 2015. There were two tables empty. We were asked to give back the table at 9. We thought we could not make it, so we left. After a few steps away, one waiter told us it was ok to finish after 9, take your time. We accepted and sit down.

The another waiter had another story. After we sat down, we read the menu and thought about what to order. The waiter urged us to order 2 times and told us we have to order at the moment (2025) because we have to give back the table at 9. He mentioned the boss told him, but it was clearly another story for the previous waiter who was still telling us it was ok. I was not sure who was in charge but they were telling different things.
