Coté Sud — Restaurant in Nice

We came back this year since we had a good experience last time only to find the service and the food drastically changed and not in a positive way. We ordered carpaccio (raw fish selection including tuna, salmon and prawn) as well as two mains. As we ate the fish, we realised it was almost room temperature. Due to the hot weather and the fish feeling off temperature we decided to take a second look and check it. That’s when we also realised it had a foul smell especially the raw tuna. As we wouldn’t risk with raw fish, we informed the waiter that we would have liked to send it back but that we would still move forward with the mains. At first the waiter seemed polite and understanding, however that quickly changed and our choices were questioned as we got asked whether we knew that “raw fish is supposed to taste like fish because it’s raw”. He then left the table with the plate. Shortly after another person, without uniform and/or identifying herself, abruptly approached the table and was way too eager to inform us that they get deliveries daily with fresh food and that specific raw dish is a best seller. During the exchange she then mention that “it wouldn’t change anything to them and that actually they wouldn’t die because of it”. As we were made feel unwanted (as customers and it became progressively clear by the staff exchange) we asked for the drinks check and the main order was cancelled. While the staff relied our request to the members inside an audible “Ma meno male” (which translates to a “Thankfully”) was heard from our table. Considering that we had gone there as returning guests, ordered the same dish as last year (so no concern was present from our side over the items) and after we had explained we were still moving forward with the rest of the mains, the behaviour shown by the two members of staff that have served us was appalling. Due to the choice of restaurants that Menton offers this is now an avoidable place for both questionable food quality...

I would say do not be fooled by the atmosphere because although the staff's approach is polite while welcoming you, the staff you shared an unhappy experience with as a customer is so rude that you say this is not my problem, especially the blonde middle-aged woman with blue glasses who helps with the service was extremely rude with her behavior and attitude. Along with our salad and seafood plate and two presecco orders, I also ordered Tagliolini verts pasta upon her suggestion and unfortunately I have never eaten pasta made with such bad and heavy seafood. It had such a heavy sauce and taste like fish taken out of water with such dense seaweed that I could not eat it, I could not even taste the pasta. I told them sadly that I could not eat it but she directly said that I could not order anything else instead. I accepted it and sent it back without eating it but unfortunately she neither politely asked me why it was heavy nor acted tolerant by saying let's offer something different. The bill came and they added the 24.50 euros that I did not eat to the bill and when I said that it must have been added by mistake, she said that I did not like it and she said that it is not my problem if I did not like it. I came across it. I will never recommend it directly for Menton and it was an experience that I will not remember well. I am attaching the invoice if you want to look at it. If you are sensitive about such issues and are someone who values ​​comments, you will read a very sincere negative experience and get an idea about the place and you will understand that neither the beautiful music playing nor the ambiance are important for someone who has experienced bad staff...

Left very disappointed. We were sat for a long time waiting for our order to be taken. Then we had to wait 50 minutes for food to even be served. The spaghetti was undercooked and bland. My friend got a mixed meat grill and it was cold. That’s not even the worst part. There was an eggshell in her food. To our shock when she sent the food back due to this, the item wasn’t taken off the bill. They tried to argue saying ‘but you ate it’. That’s outrageous considering she STOPPED eating her food because of the eggshell, she barely ate it. After complaining they took the food away immediately and when the bill came they were arguing that they can’t take it off. Only when my friend showed them a picture of the eggshell did they swiftly remove the item from the bill. She didn’t bother asking for a replacement for her meal as we didn’t want to wait another 50 minutes for food to be served. They didn’t even apologise when we complained about the food.
