Restaurant Café Noir — Restaurant in Nice

From the off, staff were rude and ignorant. We asked for a table and were treated like an inconvenience. The manager finally came and took us to a table, but did not say hello or greet us. We should have left at this point. We overheard staff being rude to customers on numerous occasions, for example asking customers to ‘wait’ to be served until the manager was available. The manager was slamming around and hardly spoke to any guests. The staff would place things on the table without a word. Once our food arrived, it was mediocre at best. Very overpriced for what we got. We felt awkward and inconvenient throughout our whole meal - it seems no one knew how to smile. We understand waiters are busy, but the attitude towards customers and their job was terrible. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody - we have been in Nice a week and everybody else has been friendly and accommodating. Easy...

We came here because it was close to our hotel and had seen positive reviews on Google about the food. Unfortunately we didn’t have that experience. The food was below average, and the entrecôte steak was so poor that we had to sent it back - we’re talking soggy, grey and tasteless. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen - prior to our order arriving we overheard two other tables who had issues with the food; one had sent their onion soup back because it was cold, and another table had the same complaint with the steak as us. Atmosphere inside felt like a club, probably not what you’re looking for if you’re looking for a nice restaurant to eat at. Plenty of other nicer restaurants for similar value around. Terrible Service

Our waiter Pepino was quite abrupt and rude. My cheese and onion omelette was the worst I have ever had ( it was raw in the middle and the cold cheese and onion was placed on top not incorporated into the omelette) I asked if they could put the filling inside and reheat it - Pepino wasn’t happy about the request - but he took it back to the kitchen. When it came back the filling had been moved into the fold of the omelette - which was now cold. I left 80% of the omelette on the plate, as it was inedible - but Pepino did not seem interested to find out why I hadn’t eaten it or offer something me else.
