Looking at the other reviews, I have to think that we really had an unlucky night. Saturday night, holiday weekend straddling the first of May, full house. My husband, myself and three children. At first we really liked the concept of sharing and the children were also very happy. We had several dishes (11?) but although the quality was good, this is not enough to justify the quantity of the portions, which were completely inconsistent. On the meat dish (some kind of ragout) we decided to call the service. There was only one meatball on the plate (buried under the little polenta). We felt mocked. The waiter could not even articulate a justification, perhaps too caught up in the fact that the place was full. I regretted not even taking a photo of the dishes. We are not in the habit of criticising or photographing dishes. We paid and left. I must say that the children behaved very well. At this point I still wonder, two months later, why we were treated this way. The experience at Åke was the only downside during our three-day stay in Paris....
Read moreYou enter and you find ourselves in this small restaurant where you can see the Chefs cooking the food with incredible dedication and you are already halfway in love with it.
Then the host welcomes you and explains to you the small menu and you already know it is going to be an amazing experience.
Nevertheless you decide to wait to taste your food with your expectations that are already very high…and when the food comes you just can’t believe how good it is…how every ingredients builds on each other and you are having one of the best culinary experiences of your life.
We have been in the best restaurants in the world, but wow, this place entered our hearts like nothing else. And the price quality ratio is absolutely insane…we have order 3 entrees to share and two desserts plus two glasses of wine and the total was 85…We could have easily paid 120 and still be incredibly happy.
I will visit again next time in February, hopefully you don’t become too famous and we still can find a...
Read moreAfter reading a review in Conde Nast, a colleague and I dined at Akė on our last night in Paris - and it did not disappoint. Tucked on a quaint side street, the atmosphere and ambiance still had an appropriate hustle and bustle without feeling too in the scene. The open kitchen was great to passively watch Chef prepare dish after dish.
Our server (Maya) was delightful. Great wine recommendations and bang on in her guidance on menu selections.
The food. The very small menu would have been one I would eat my way through and we would have done so had we foolishly not had a snack elsewhere earlier that evening! Highlights were the gnocchi and the tuna. To die for. The only “meh” was the deserts. The tiramisu was too cold for a smooth texture and too boozy in taste.
The steady stream of people trying (pleading) for tables throughout the night is proof enough that Akė is doing something very, very right. Highly recommend and I would not hesitate to return on my next Paris...
