We ate here twice during our stay at the hotel. For dinner we walked in and saw only the cook. Finally we saw another employee at the farthest part of the restaurant. He spoke in French and motioned for us to sit. I had made a reservation, though clearly the place was empty. We sat for close to 10 minutes before the employee came to give us a menu. No explanations were given. While the menu was in English, it did not give details on what came with the order. We got our bottled water and waited. Finally he returned to take our order. We ordered mozzarella bruschetta, fish and chips and a Babette burger, medium well. The employee walked back and forth and finally put our order in. He brought us a bowl of breads but no butter. Breads were tasty. He brought the bruschetta and it came with a salad. Both were quite good. Finally the main arrived. Hubby said the fish was excellent. My medium well burger was red inside and had a lot of sauce, grilled onions and cheese. Since I ordered a burger not a cheese burger, and medium well not medium rare, it was disappointing. Fries were tasty but some pieces were tiny and therefore over fried. Salad came with the burger. Service was pretty much nonexistent. Employee walked past several times but never made eye contact or spoke. Had to flag him down to get the bill.
Breakfast was a bit better. The range of options was wonderful. Lots of cooks in the kitchen, all standing and talking. One waitstaff in the seating area. It’s a seat yourself buffet. I came in, sat and was never asked for my room number. Hubby joined about 15 minutes later and then they asked for a room number.
The atmosphere is quite lovely with the original beams of the building being major focal points. They do need to examine their dishware. The first two coffee mugs I picked up had big chips in them. I’d go again for breakfast...
Read moreFirst visit : Nice renovated building (+1 star) in La Villette. They were supposed to have Happy Hours ar the bar as written outside but... sorry... only bottles, twice the price and no one updated the outside advertisment for Happy Hours. Bartender was happy and nice anyway, thanks to him (+1 star)
Second visit : bar is closed at 7pm (no star) you have to sit downstairs...
Third visit : TBC... soon ?
So far I wouldn't recommend that bar. You have better food and beverages options just 3 minutes walking time. And yes, they all take...
