Back in Black is one of the places I revisited during my trip to Paris. The coffee beans were rotated for both espresso, milk based espresso and filter. They paid a great attention to details, from roasting, cupping and brewing. The baristas were very skillful and constantly poured a beautiful latte art.
I only ordered a piccolo the first time and felt a bit underwhelming, but I was very glad that it decided to revisit it after. Not only that I was able to have some great flat while using Guatemala and Costa Rica beans, but also I got to try a few items in their food menu.
My favorite is savory scones. It came with zaatar roasted eggplant and zucchini. The cream cheese with pickled mustard seeds spread on the scone, a great dish if you prefer some savory dish.
Another good savory option is Egg on toast with cashew pesto. The cashew pesto was nutty and aromatic, but the crushed cashew on top was a bit burned that day.
They also had two interesting side dishes. One is sautéed spinach in sage butter and oyster mushroom fired in parsley butter, full of herb aroma. The other one is dill oil roasted fig with fennel, drizzled with espelette pepper, sweet, savory and some spicy kick at the end. Unfortunately, the side dishes can only be ordered with mains.
French toasted banana bread is a great option if you are into something sweet. It was moisture, thick, soft, dense and buttery, a very satisfying dish! But it also needs lots of workout after to burn these sweet calories.
At the end of my last visit, I also picked a few bags of coffee beans. The Ethiopian espresso was tasty...

This is easily one of the top best Speciality Coffee locations in Paris! kb roasters café, named Back In Black, offers, besides of their freshly home-roasted coffee, lovely healthy and really freshly made superfood and cakes, coffee books and coffee accessories like aeropresses, grinders, cattles, or scales.
The whole café can be accessed via wheelchair (WC included). All very clean, with an urban, open space design. Even if it's completely full, you never get claustrophobia. There is plenty of space to move around and have a look at the coffee, roast, or even cooking process. Nothing is hidden, it's all open space, no tricks or cheap shortcuts.
In terms of price, you'll get what you pay for. Traceable Speciality Coffee, inhouse roasted beans, fresh food, all that comes at a reasonable, fair, price. Your average coffe will cost around five, for lunch count around fourteen euro. Restaurants around will charge you about the same, but will cut corners in terms of freshness and healthiness.
The serving is very fast and absolutely friendly. You do not get harassed in any way if you are there to finish your work on your laptop. You get free WiFi, but bring along your powerbank, or make sure you're fully charged as there are no power sockets near the tables.
Only improvements I would suggest: Music can be a bit loud sometimes. While most of the prices seem justified, some don't. A slice of banana bread should not cost you over five bucks.
Conclusion: nine out of ten! If you are into Speciality Coffe, this is a not-to-miss location and definitely worth...
Read moreReally nice coffee and environment. ââââ New comment 6 Feb 2024 I always like their savory or sweet food and their amazing coffee. But this time the service was really bad.
It took us quite long time to catch the attention of the girl with iPad to order, while she gave us a very snobby attitude.
And when we needed something more, we waved our hands to another waitress walking towards us and she just completely ignored usâŠ.I mean, ok, maybe your job is not ordering, maybe your job is checkout, but at least tell your customer that youâre not the one taking the order and your colleague will come to help. She just looked into our eyes and walked away.
We took around 20 minutes to order and waited 40 minutes for a savory scone, it was just way too slow!
We wanted to order a flat white to end our meal, and we were informed that their machine was having technical issues. When I saw they are delivery coffee takeaways, the waiter told me that machine needed more time to warm upâŠfine.
Overall, very good food and drinks, very arrogant attitude, especially girls. Improve the way you handle your customers, people will feel more...
