What a perfect night we had at Le Bistrot des Vosges! We decided to make a reservation because we'd heard the onion soup was the best in Paris. And it certainly was from our experience. But we were impressed with so much more! We were greeted by the owner Siegfrid when we arrived, and he delightfully showed us to our reserved table by a window that was so romantic. Siegfrid was one of the kindest people we met on our entire two weeks visiting France on our honeymoon. He was genuinely happy to make us and the rest of his guests feel special at the restaurant, which he runs with his wife.
The menu is extensive and has a lot of variety that's different from other places we visited. Everything is quite affordable and very, very good. We obviously both got the onion soup and enjoyed every bite of it! The onions were perfectly cooked, the broth was rich and tasty, and the flavorful cheese on top was the perfect amount. Yes, best in Paris in our opinion. We also enjoyed the duck confit and the restaurant's specialty grilled sausage with aligot. And the cheese plate we had to cap the meal was excellent as well.
The ambiance of the restaurant was very unique, too. In the end, it was the warm and kind service from Siegfrid and the high-quality food that had us smiling from ear to ear when we left. What a meal and what a night! Merci Beaucoup to Le Bistrot des Vosges for everything! We can't wait to return on our next trip to Paris! If you're in the area, you definitely...
Read moreRemoving my 5 stars from a year ago because of the experience I had this second time. The food was ok, nothing much but that was not the issue. The service from the bearded kinda blonde waiter was. From the begging you could sense he was nervous and unstable, being a bit rude but we didn’t care. The glass of red wine my father ordered was clearly corked, we noticed it after the first sip, something that can happen. He asked for a different glass and that one was alright. After paying, my father noticed they charged him for the first corked glass which we didn’t drink. As someone who works in the industry (and can notice when a wine is corked) I was also surprised to be charged for something we didn’t drink. My father complained and the waiter refused to try it and got really aggressive, not trying to de-escalate the situation at all (One: “apologies, it’s the company policy” would’ve worked). Even after my father had stopped complaining, he kept mumbling and talking to himself about the situation. Quite a weird guy that you should be...
Read moreTraditional French cuisine with French products in a simple, yet homey and intimate setting. A place where customers go back, and rightly so. We were lucky to find a spot without reservation, as in their website they recommend customers to book 4 hours in advance. The place is traditionally French, with French pictures and the classical bistrot look in the setting and walls. The star of the show for us was the onion soup. We underestimated its filling power (we were basically full after that and the snails). It was rich and cheesy, but with a very good balance. I felt the cherry on top would have been some aromatic herbs or a hint of extra pepper, but it was truly amazing. My partner had then some meat with aligot (a sort of potato puree with cheese which seems to be a staple in the french kitchen) and it was amazing, not too cheesy. I had lamb which was nice too. The wine we picked was also very good. No space for dessert but we felt we discovered a little gem. Service was also attentive and caring. Definitely...
