A charming spot in a great, non-touristy quartiers located on the far side of Montmartre. The approach is small plates, a favorite of mine for the chance to sample varied flavors and textures.
Bouch offers roughly 20 interesting options and recommends 5 plates for two people – good luck narrowing your selection! We chose six plates and enjoyed every one (especially the aubergine et thon)…then went with the excellent pavlova for dessert.
Beyond the delicious diversity of dishes, I must highlight the unbelievably excellent service (rarely a focus in French restos, where deference and privacy supersede attention). We dined during la Fete de la Musique -- a raucous night on Parisian streets when restaurants are packed AND slinging to-go drinks and snacks as a side gig – and the sole server (Juliettte, aided by her barkeep) tended every table in addition to the thirsty trottoir. In perpetual motion with a genuine smile, she gracefully juggled an impossible permutation of tables/plates/drinks/revelers – not only efficiently getting countless dishes to table but clearing and promptly attending to drinks. On a night where the city hosted bands and concerts on every corner, Juliette’s was the most impressive performance of all.
My one less-glowing observation/recommendation is that the quantity of food per plate is a bit low for the prices – either a extra couple bites or a couple less Euros would make for a better balance.
Overall, the experience, menus, ambiance, and (especially) service were great and we’ll be back to try more of the...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I spent a week in France (2 days in Paris, 5 days in Nice), and this was by far the best dinner we had the whole trip!
We ordered from the tapas menu, and we were recommended a few dishes which we got and were not disappointed. Everything was so tasty and we were plenty full! We had ordered 5 dishes; the duck, bavette, chicken bites, ceviche and the fries with the shredded cheese on top, and of course a bottle of red. And for dessert we got the French toast and the roasted apples. So yum!!!
Not only was the food delicious, the decor and the vibe of the restaurant was so cute and trendy, and also very friendly.
Highlighly recommend this place! We definitely would go back should we ever decide to go...
Read moreThe food was great and original, nothing we ever had somewhere else. Taste and presentation was top notch. Our table location was not great and one of the waitresses had quite a startling attitude and made a couple of silly statements. Foodwise, it's definitely a must try. My personal favorite was the beetroot hummus, called Coup de soleil, and the chocolate fudge with its violet and mountain honey ice cream. The roasted green cabbage with its nuts sauce is surprisingly sour/acid. Also tried the sauteed octopus, stuffed aubergine, salmon gravlax and for desserts roasted apple goodness. Drinkwise we did not feel adventurous but they have a large selection of house cocktails, lemonades and wines,...
