Overall, it was a dissapointing experience. Contrary to our expectations the ambience was very average, even the lighting. But this could be acceptable when accompanied with good food and good service - which was unfortunately not the case. They confused one of our starters and brought a different soup instead, and when we told the waiter he didn’t believe us. When he told his colleague they had a disagreement in front of us. One of the waiters didn’t speak English or French fluently, so it was very challenging to communicate with him. The mains were good, but there were very few options to choose from. Lastly, I ordered a mont blanc as dessert and from the firs taste, I could understand that it was not tasting good at all. So I did not touch it from there and asked if I could change it with another dessert and that the taste of the mont blanc was off. The same waiter with the communication issue came back and said that as I touched the food, I cannot return it. I tried to ask how I am supposed to know if it is good or bad before tasting it, but he didn’t even understand my question. He then came back and said they will do an exception for me and bring another dessert, which I of course appreciated, but it was supposed to be their first response, rather than accusing me of touching the food before asking to return it due to the taste. Overall, it is not worth what you pay and the experience is below standards...
Read moreKnowing this decent French restaurant by a friend’s recommendation and the visit was totally amazing!
It only offers set menu where you can choose entree + main + dessert at dinner time for a basic 42 euro price. It might goes up if special dishes are chosen.
My friends and I tried the fish soup and crab salad as entrees. The soup was first came up with a plate of dry meats, salamis, and cheese; then the soup was gently poured into the soup plate. You can taste the rich flavor of the soup and savory added by the ingredients. The crab salad was served with sliced green apples on top to lighten the taste. I’m not sure the what the jelly-like thing between the salas and apple was but it felt like terrine made by chicken broth. I was impressed by the concept of salad
We then had pigeon, fish, and risotto. I was not quite used to the smell of pigeon but i still considered it as a good first try. My friends loved it very much. The fish was tender and well cooked. The roasted potatoes were all soaked in the sauce and oil. The asparagus on the risotto sparked this main dish!
Although we were so full after the main courses, we still couldn’t resist the charms of French dessert.
I really enjoyed this dinner in Paris cause you can see Chez Michel served extraordinary foods with seriousness and care, and their staff brought us joy with their hospitality and...
Read moreI was excited to try the new Japanese chef’s influence on a bistro I used to frequent when I lived in Paris a long time ago. I waited at least 20 mins to have order taken or be offered a drink. 3/~6 main menu choices had gone, Including bouillabaisse. I settled for another fish dish and had a serrano and melon starter. A glass of so so wine came after the starter. The latter was adequate but neither ham nor melon particularly good. The service was so pressed I wasn’t offered water even though I wanted it and it was extraordinarily hot. The fish came. It was a breaded and fried piece of fish in what I would swear was the bouillabaisse remainders. If it wasn’t, why, on a short menu, serve two tomato soup-based dishes? The fish was inedible - why eat a super greasy wet mush of breaded outside with a completely desiccated piece of fish inside? One bite and I didn’t want more. I took one more bite to confirm it was as bad as I thought and asked for the bill. The waiter brought the bill - he asked no questions about why I was leaving an almost untouched meal. I took this to mean he might know it was terrible. It was a crazy hot night, let’s hope this was an anomaly - the heat robbing the waiter and chef of sufficient energy to create an...
