CREPERIE Chez Suzette — Restaurant in Paris

I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I do love ice cream. I don't think it was just the heady experience of spending April in Paris that made me think this is a great place for it. This small stand where there is always a line leading up to the window where you order and get your glaces and sorbets was the first experience I had with ice cream using fresh ingredients with flavors bursting in your mouth.

The man working there spoke English and helped me figure out what the flavors were so I didn't have to butcher French to order. Their flavors include a great vanilla, pistachio, Grand Manier, Amaretto, several flavors each of praline, caramel, and chocolate, mango, pear, apple, 2 (!) flavors of strawberry, raspberry, fig...

I ended up making the walk across the bridge to Berthillion 3 times in a week, each time getting multiple scoops and since it was warm on all days I went, had to consume quickly before it all melted. They really need a 8-scoop sampler for me - if there was ever a good reason for brain freeze,...

Great (and filling) food at an unbeatable price! Seriously, this place is a bargain in Paris or any other city. The staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating. Our waitress was a lovely young woman with a bubbly personality and was exceedingly sweet and polite. She was so sweet, that she immediately began conversing with me in Spanish when she found out that we (my wife and I) were living in Spain. She also spoke English extremely well.

Onto the food. Up until this point, I was largely underwhelmed with the crepes I had eaten, as they were overloaded with Nutella. However, I ordered a ham and cheese crepe and absolutely LOVED it! The crepe was very tasty, large, and surprisingly filling. My wife ordered a strawberry and banana crepe and it was every bit as good as mine. We stopped at this small Creperie on the evening of our arrival on December 30th, 2016. The staff made every effort to make us feel welcome and assist in English the best they could. We ordered savory crepes and everyone was happy with their selection. My mother and I had the Ecce, which was salmon and spinach. My wife had the tomato and bufala cheese crepe. My son even forced himself to eat the ham and cheese choice he made. Phoenix, Arizona is certainly not a Crepe mecca, but compared to our favorite local French restaurant, whose crepes were prepared under the direction of its French owner and Chef, I have no complaints about the quality of the food.
