Firstly, do not take picture in the hall when Oliver comes on stage. Hilariously, he remarked this when someone was taking photo at the onset 😂
Being a non French speaker, non European, I hardly understand the culture here but perhaps a snippet but Olivier manages to put across and make me understand why & what Parisian does what we see and experience although not entirely.
Some are local jokes only Parisian understands such as Pumas, and he puts in some French sentences which i can’t relate to, perhaps he can explain in greater detail in future shows for the benefit of others non French speaking and non European.
I like the Q&A at the end of the show, many unanswered questions re Parisians are asked and answered by Oliver.
Overall, the show is worth the time.
P/S - I cudn enjoy the show much also cos the seats are too cramped and the person in front of me is too tall and blocked almost 80% of my view, only managed to see when he leans to his left onto his girlfriend to the dismay of the patron on my left as he blocks...
Read moreThe theater itself is very nice and cozy — a great setting for a night out in Paris. How to Become a Parisian in One Hour is a fun and light-hearted show that offers a humorous take on Parisian culture. It’s a good way to spend an evening with your partner, especially if you’re visiting the city for the first time.
That said, as someone who enjoys stand-up and has seen some of the great comedians of our time perform live, this show doesn't quite measure up in terms of originality or comedic depth. The jokes rely heavily on stereotypes, and the American impersonations in particular feel exaggerated and somewhat clichéd. Some parts of the show may also be difficult to follow unless you understand French, which could be a drawback for non-French speakers.
Overall, it’s a good experience — entertaining and enjoyable — but not a must-see if you’re used to high-caliber stand-up comedy. A fun cultural detour, but manage your expectations...
Read moreOlivier's show is a must when visiting Paris. On any given night, the audience is a mix of international visitors and French natives. The show is short, punchy and sweet, the perfect night out in Paris in a lively neighborhood with a large selection of restaurants to enjoy before or after the show. -- Highlighting cultural differences and making people laugh about them with hurting anyone's feelings is a skill, one that Olivier Giraud, a French native, mastered a long time ago after living and working for years in the United States. -- Olivier helps demystify the "intimidating Parisian" image and makes the audience laugh as they get introduced to behavior patterns they may spot in the French capital. With Olivier's help, they quickly learn how to do in Paris as Parisians do (or at least, how to smile at - and respond to - their many...
