Happened to pass by this little fancy creperie after visiting Musée Grévin, we thought it might be a good idea to take a break and give this local dessert a try before it was time to get to the dinner place... We picked this place because we saw big words 'The best pancakes and waffles of Paris' as the menu's headline. (I am curious whether such claims have to be proved by the way~🤔)
It was a cozy creperie with many fillings for the crepes to choose from, both sweet and savoury. And they had some awesome home-made ice-cream, too! We could even see a large pile of pancakes at the counter.
As we had had a late lunch due to the metro problem, and were heading for dinner soon, we decided to share one sweet crepe (good to have some dessert as we didn't have time for dessert after the late lunch!😜) to relax a bit before setting off again.
They had all sorts of fillings so we spent a bit of time making up our minds. We finally picked crêpe caramel au beurre salé (caramel with salted butter pancake) plus an additional scoop of ice-cream. They had a range of unique flavours like coconut, Gianduja, yogurt, prestigious flavours like Bourbon vanilla, Valrhona chocolate, and many sorbets. It gave us another headache yet we eventually managed to order the pistachio ice-cream.
Voilà~ The crêpe arrived and it tasted fine. The pancake was soft enough and the caramel was good, balanced with the traces of saltiness. The ice-cream was smooth and fragrant. Was it the best pancake in Paris? Um... I don't know really, as I can't tell. Would I go there again when I happen to pass by? Yes, I think so.
You can see from my photos the prices and varieties of the food items, and I think they were neither very expensive nor very cheap. If you love pancakes or waffles, you can have a try~ Tell me whether you agree that they are the best pancakes and...
Read moreWe had a lovely time here. Their selection of crepes is extraordinary! Trust me, as a person who’s obsessed over crepes, I often stumble upon places that market «instagrammable» crepes but end up only having 2-3 options (usually chocolate, caramel and cheese+chicken). But this place is sooo different!
I had a crepe with goat cheese, leek, acacia honey & walnuts. DELICIOUS. If you don’t like leek, just ask to remove it. My friends had a crepe with apple compote, a crepe with chestnut cream, and a crepe with homemade bolognese. All such unique tastes!
The service was surprisingly amazing too! I never expect good service in popular Parisian spots, as the amount of tourists is high and servers get annoyed easily. But here they really took the time to take our order, were super nice, asked where we come from & even switched easily from French to English and to Spanish for my friends. Waw. Applause to their whole team.
Perfect plan for y’a: •Walk by the river and head to the Notre Dame de Paris at sunset. •Two minutes away is the famous Shakespeare library. The line is worth waiting. Browse around the books, look for the famous cat & take sneaky pictures as it’s not allowed (boooo). •Go to La Crème and grab a salty crepe and a sweet one to try it all. Opt in for unusual options! Don’t just take chocolate & banana, as that’s something you can try anywhere!! Try something unique this time ;)
Enjoy!!! Written...
Read moreWe have celiac disease and came here because it appeared on find me gluten free. The second we walked in, excited, we said “we’re here for the gluten free crepes!” The very first experience we had in this restaurant was a negative response from the employee at the front saying the crepes were not gluten free. Let me be clear, we are very happy with folks sharing their concerns for cross contamination but it was the tone and attitude received that started this off negatively. We sat anyhow considering what we had read, and waited several minutes for the server to come back around. I tried asking him about the cross contamination risk and their procedure and he just insisted that the crepes aren’t gluten free and to only get a waffle. He left the room for a moment so we went up to ask another employee who thoroughly explained the cross contamination risk and we decided to order a buckwheat crepe after that information.
The gentleman who had greeted us saw me finishing that conversation. Once we sat, we could tell he was asking him what happened and he proceeded to give us dirty looks and was short and rude until the moment we walked out the door.
I have not had any issues thus far regarding the gluten and will update if that changes. The crepe was decent, not great. We were disappointed in the service...
