I’ve been here twice now during my visits to Paris. This cocktail bar has great vibes. It’s a vinyl record bar with wood panels and a stylish but friendly staff to match. The cocktails are solid, but on the sweeter side and not hugely complex in flavor. If you’re looking for something light and refreshing, you can’t go wrong with any of the special cocktails at this time of year. If you’re looking for something boozy and spirit-forward, best stick with the classics. The neighborhood is safe by day with some cute stores lining the street, but can be a little dodgy at night and so best to be careful especially if you are a solo woman. All-in-all though definitely worth stopping in if you’re in the area.

Great atmosphere. They play music from the vinyls. Cocktails are amazing as well.

An amazing hidden gem that plays vinyl and serves gorgeous cocktails. I had an old fashioned and my partner had a non alcoholic cocktail which she says was one of the best she's ever tasted! We didn't have food but saw other people eating and the food looked great. The member of staff that served us was so welcoming and even gave us recommendations on other bars in the area to visit. Definitely pay this place a visit if you're in the Bastille area :)

Subject: Unacceptable Conduct by Bouncer – Damage to Venue’s Reputation

To Whom It May Concern,

Last night, I had the unfortunate experience of encountering a bouncer at your establishment who is not only unprofessional but actively tarnishing your venue’s reputation. His behavior was aggressive, discriminatory, and outright degrading. If this is the standard of representation at your bar, you may want to reconsider your hiring practices.

Here’s what happened:

I am German, my wife is Brazilian, and we were meeting our French friends—whom we hadn’t seen in two years—to enjoy the Brazilian DJ performing at your venue. We arrived at 10 PM and patiently waited in line. By 10:20, we were at the front, still waiting due to capacity limits. During this time, we engaged in normal conversation, at times raising our volume slightly out of excitement. The bouncer aggressively warned us in French to lower our voices. I immediately apologized and adjusted.

At 10:40, after a brief laugh among friends, he returned, launching into a tirade—again in French—despite my repeated apologies in English. What he didn’t realize was that my French friends understood every word. He was not just reprimanding me—he was outright insulting me, calling me “retarded” and questioning if I had a mind of my own, all while I was standing there respectfully.

Then came the real issue: at around 11 PM, a french group of seven approached from a different direction. The same bouncer, who had ignored us for nearly an hour, suddenly became accommodating, offering to check capacity for them immediately. My friends confronted him in French, pointing out the blatant unfairness. His response? He claimed he “didn’t realize” we were waiting—because we hadn’t greeted him properly. A pathetic excuse for what was clearly intentional discrimination.

At that point, he made it clear that we were never going to be let in. Instead of simply stating that, he wasted our time, insulted me repeatedly in a language he assumed I wouldn’t understand, and ultimately humiliated us for no reason other than his own prejudice. Even his fellow bouncer had to step in and tell him to stop.

This kind of behavior isn’t just unprofessional—it’s outright unacceptable. It reflects poorly on your establishment and will inevitably drive customers away. A venue like yours should be known for its atmosphere, music, and experience—not for a power-tripping doorman who treats guests with open hostility. I suggest you take this matter seriously.

Looking forward to your...

Saturday night, as a solo female I had to deal with an insecure and powertripping bouncer who tried to not let me in due to lack of space but contradicted himself by almost allowing a group to get in after I arrived. The truth is to his eyes I didn't fit the crowd. He was trying to pick a fight with me just so he had a more formal reason to block me access. I remained calm and confident by stating that I will be patient as I understandthat it is a busy Saturday night. He got upset and delcared that i do no chose he is the one in charge. This is when I calmly proved my point by stating that I did not contradicted him ( about him REALLY having the power to decide who gets in, so such things as to crowded for a solo patron) and he was the one who kept on arguing just to save face. After 3 minutes, he searched my bag for a second time(!) and let me in.

Once inside, great DJ, cool ambiance and polite bartenders. I stayed longer than planned, which is a good sign. I personally love the vinyl aspects. This bar was recommended to me by few bartenders in Paris. One did warn me that this venue started to get more bad feedback. Welcoming people at the entrance is key as it sets the mood. That being said, I will make sure to visit Frequence again on a different night hoping to have better service ( and no 'goonish' attitude...

I recently visited Frequence and unfortunately, my experience was destroyed by the behavior of the bouncer. While the atmosphere and drinks were decent, the interaction with the bouncer left a very negative impression. From the moment I arrived, the bouncer was rude and dismissive. He seemed to be in a bad mood and took it out on some people. This behavior made the environment feel unwelcoming and uncomfortable. I witnessed similar treatment of other customers, which was disappointing.

Seriously this is a bar and we are not next to the "fancy pants" Eiffel Tower, I don't know what kind of "exclusive vibe" they are trying to give to this place but as a costumer don't encourage this behavior by going there, it will literally kill the chill and simple vibe of the neighborhood. As a costumer you have the power to...
