Would definitely recommend this place. Five out of five across the board.
Ended up ordering nearly 80% of the menu excluding desserts. The cauliflowers were light and crispy with no pools of oil. Made just right as the cauliflower themselves were nice and tender. The mushrooms - Bug fan of mushrooms, so I might be bias when I say these were delicious. There were two types of sauces on there; separate they taste funny, but they work together nicely. Jerusalem artichokes - Very tender; almost mistook them for potatoes haha. The sauce I’m assuming is some sort of emulsion from haddock. Regardless it pairs nicely with the artichokes. Grilled sea bass - Probably my favorite tapa/dish. Grilled to perfection; fish was still light and flaky. Would also say this was the best plated. Razor clams - Not everyone’s cup of tea, but I have no qualms with these clams. It was a simple cook with garlic butter so wasn’t expecting something too notch. One of the clams still has some sand in it, but I’m talking like 2-3 grains. Still good nonetheless. Salmon - Although menu said half-cooked, it was pretty much a quick sear on each face, exactly how I would have cooked my salmon. The yogurt sauce complemented the salmon well. Duck breast - was most excited for this dish as it’s hard to cook duck right. A bit too long on the fire and it becomes too gamey. The cook on the duck was approximately a medium. The sauce it came with elevated the taste of the dish and helped mask the taste of the slightly burnt skin. No fault to the chefs, I just have a strong sensitively to the smell of charcoal and burnt skin. Would still recommend this dish. Pork belly - cooked very nicely. All the components on the dish worked together nicely to elevate the taste of the pork belly. Only recommendation is to be more attentive to the plating of the kale. My dish had three small bunches of kale that was thrown on top of the pork, completely covering the star of the dish. Can also probably do a quick flash fry of the kale so it adds a flaky texture. Lamb kebab - firstly, it’s served in a bowl, not on a skewer. Nothing much to say as it’s difficult to mess up lamb kebab. Harissa sauce was a nice addition to the dish. and finally, the beef tartar - I’ve eat lots of beef tartar over the last few years, but none with squid ink. so this dish definitely wins the creativity award. I thought it would be a clash of taste due to raw meat and especially seafood, but they worked well together.
All in all, a great meal. Will go back for another meal the next time I’m...
Read moreI don't understand all the amazing comments for this place. The tapas were not impressive at all. In fact this is the worst I've been in terms of quality vs price. We had the onglet de boeuf; the meat had a lot of veins so it was like chewing a gum with a funny taste. The falafel was overcooked and impossible to cut. The accras were over fried and tasted more like oil than fish (you can see in my picture that the accras that is suppose to look golden, look dark brown). We also order a plate of comte cheese and was really surprised with the 4 tiny slices of cheese they gave us for 13 euros. Wine places tend to give good portions for charcuterie and cheese to go with your wine. And to be honest, the cheese was the only thing we liked from what we ordered. Now the service... the service is good overall. Very attentive staff and they all speak English (a lot of tourists in the place). I was surprised they saw we left half of our plates with the food intact and did not ask us if there was a problem. I also.think that since the place is really small, they should really plan ahead how they seat customers. We were seated in the middle and they asked us twice to move to the corner for people joining a couple next to us. The first time it was fine but the second was really annoying. I don't mind moving but we had to move everything by ourselves: the wine, the tapas, our glasses, our coats and purses. So annoying! If you are looking to go where the locals go, this is definitely NOT the place. This is a touristic tapas place. I'm never going back...
Read moreDined here for the 2nd night in a row, first night good service fabulous food. 2nd night not the same experience, had to put our name on the wait list, not a problem, gave them our telephone number and said about 20 mins. Standing outside by the door after about 30 mins went in and checked and was told they tried to call twice and no answer, claimed my phone was off. Don’t think he knew how to dial a US number. Waited a few more mins and was seated at the bar.
Made no attempt to bring English Chalk board over like last night so we hunted it down and took a photo. Mind you there were 3 servers behind the bar. Took our wine and 2 tapas orders. One Tapas showed up and after 20 mins asked about our 2nd and checked on it. Brought about 5 mins later, no apology for our lost order. Then my wife’s wine glass was empty and no one stopped by to ask if she wanted a refill. We finished our first Tapas and put the plate out for pick up it was ignored by all 3 servers and was not asked if we wanted to order more. Now I’m not sure what to think of their typical service…..good...
