Read moreBest noodles in town. And I mean that wholeheartedly. Mind you these are not your typical noodles, they are thick and dense much like udon but more hearty. It is a privilege to eat here, and the service is quick and efficient. Hard working people with good hearts. I can also recommend the cantonese rice and the mapo tofu, that is honestly a perfect level of spicy. Might be mild for you if you like it hot hot, tho. They’re specialty is the noodles but don’t be afraid to order the other chinese plates in the menu. Real authentic cantonese food, doesnt get any better than that. The place: Hole in the wall with no wow factor. My table was dirty and the waiter did a poor job of giving it a quick wipe down.
The goods: Frankly, I don't know what the fuss is about. I ordered the soup with ramen and shrimp dumplings; the noodles were very starchy and the broth barely had any flavour to it. The dumplings were good and the shrimp were quite big. I wasn't blown away and have had much better soups here in Montreal.
Service: What service? The waiter didn't smile once, and when he spoke, it was so low and under his breath that I had to make him repeat everything. While I ate, one of the other staff kept dumping stuff in the other chair at my table or dumping chopsticks in a container on my table. No 'excuse me' - just go ahead and stick your arms in my face.
