Nestled in the heart of Paris, Mala Town offers an unpretentious yet deeply satisfying dining experience. The restaurant features simple, tightly-packed tables that create a bustling, communal atmosphere reminiscent of authentic Asian eateries.
What truly sets Mala Town apart is their impressive selection of toppings to customize your soup. From fresh vegetables to various proteins and noodle options, the combinations seem endless. The soup bases themselves are exceptionally flavorful - we opted for the Thai Tom Yum, which delivered the perfect balance of spicy, sour, and aromatic notes.
As one regular customer noted, "The broths here have depth and complexity you rarely find outside of Southeast Asia." Another visitor mentioned, "It's my go-to spot when I want something warming and filling without breaking the bank."
Mala Town excels at providing generous portions that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet. The value proposition is remarkable, especially considering the central Paris location where affordable dining options can be scarce.
"I love how you can customize everything to your taste," shared one reviewer. "Even with the crowded seating, the energetic vibe adds to the experience rather than detracting from it."

Read moreI tried my first Mala Huoguo in Paris and was not disappointed! Lovingly nicknamed "dry hotpot" by us Beijing expats, this used to be our go-to comfort food back then, where it’s everywhere (sweet memory!). This place delivers as authentically as it gets - with 95% of the customers being Asian or Chinese (a sure sign of its quality).
The concept is simple: you choose your own ingredients - a wide range which include meat, vegetables, seafood, pig intestines, liver, and even blood curds. It’s a feast for the adventurous foodie, but admittedly not for everyone! You can opt to have your meal in soup or dry form.
The only downside is the wait time - it took over 30 minutes for our dishes to arrive. I later learned there’s just one Chinese chef preparing everything in the kitchen, which explains the delay (was faster in China).
I’m giving the food 4 stars because, having tasted even better Mala Huoguo in China, but it is still a 5-star experience. For a taste of Beijing in Paris, it’s highly recommended - just come with an open mind! It’s not the healthiest food around, but that’s not the point. It’s perfect for a cold Parisian evening and feels like a mini holiday...
Read moreNew malatang place in town and loved the variety of ingredients available that you can add into your mala (including pork slices which is not available in some places)!
This place gets the cooking time of each food very well. Potatoes and noodles were cooked just right, potatoes were soft while my instant noodles are still chewy. (In some of the places I’ve been, the noodles tend to become mush by the time it’s served and the potato slices are still hard af so I really hated that.
The mala is premixed in a sauce which is just right as well, not overly salty and you can continue to add condiments from a bar in the shop if you want it more spicy/salty.
Another great point is that the store is open through afternoon so you can come by and get a late lunch even...
