Whenever my wife and I go on holiday we always like to try a local Indian restaurant. So given that the Katmandou Café was literally two minutes walk from our hotel, we were always going to give it a try. The restaurant was very quiet during our visit so one star off for 'atmosphere' but I wouldn't put a lot of emphasis on that since it was still pretty early and I am sure that it would get busier during the course of the evening. So, my wife had the dhal saag (dal sag) which she immediately proclaimed to be amongst the best she has eaten, anywhere ... ever (and trust me, she's eaten plenty dhal saag in her life) while I opted for that perennial favourite of the British, chicken tikka masala. Again a first class dish, creamy and tangy with plenty flavours going on, not spicy hot (neither should it be) but in no way bland ... in other words, just right ! Also since it's an integral part of most Indian meals I should mention the saffron rice: again top notch, delicately flavoured, just like we like it and plenty of it ! One minor point I'd make is that the garlic naan we ordered was brought to the table far too soon ... certainly for us anyway. I don't know if it's a continental thing to serve naan early but personally I and anyone else I know usually eat naan WITH a curry so by the time ours arrived the naan bread was stone cold. While other less generous reviewers might knock off a star for that, I won't as I wouldn't want to give the impression that the main dishes were anything other than 5 star ! Maybe I should have mentioned it at the time but given the language barriers and the otherwise excellent quality of the food, I thought I might as well just keep quiet. Also worth noting that in my experience one naan bread normally serves two. Not here. If you're ordering naan, order one EACH !
Service was good and the young waiter lad was friendly, smiley and attentive without being overbearing.
So all things considered I would not have the slightest hesitation either dining in the Katmandou Café again or indeed recommending it to you. You definitely won't be disappointed.
PS Kingfisher beer too ... which is better...

I ordered vegitable with rice and my Partner vegeterial Birayani. It was terriable. It was expensive. You Need to pay for vegetable and extra for Rice. The beaverages are super expensive. The interior is samll and conjusted to sit properly. I donot recommend this...
Read moreWe enjoyed Katmandou Café so much that we visited twice during our Paris trip! The first time, we ordered their flavorful biryanis, and on our second visit, the rich and creamy butter chicken — both were absolutely delicious. My daughter couldn’t get enough of the soft, cheesy naan, and the dal was wonderfully comforting and perfectly spiced.
A big thank you to Gora, who served us with such warmth and attention — he truly made us feel welcome. The meal ended on a perfect note with their refreshing mint tea, which was the ideal finish after such a hearty meal.
