EDIT: Perhaps it wasn't the staff or the restaurant itself that intended to deceive. It seems more like a case of miscommunication and misunderstanding. I've visited many omakase and course dinner restaurants, and perhaps I simply wasn't accustomed to KORUS particular approach when it comes to offering add-ons. Overall, they provide an incredible dining experience at an affordable price for what they offer.
First and foremost, I want to express my appreciation for the overall experience, food, and service provided by the staff at this establishment. However, I am giving it a one-star rating due to feeling deceived when it came time to pay the bill.
During my visit, there was a moment when I was asked if I wanted to have the fromage (cheese) before the main course. This question made me cautious because it seemed unusual to be asked in this manner. Normally, in a multi-course meal, the dishes are served without such inquiries. I immediately inquired if the fromage was "included" in the course, and the staff assured me that it was "included and extra," leading me to believe it was already factored into the price. Without giving it much thought, I agreed. However, I later noticed on the menu that it was mentioned as "included" but with a very unnoticeable "+12" next to it. I wish I had been more careful. This is my second day in Paris, and unfortunately, it feels like the second time I have lost money due to deceptive practices. Such tactics are commonly referred to as deceptive designs in advertising, as the menu and the staff's manner of answering questions can be misleading. Despite my dissatisfaction, I chose not to argue as I did enjoy the food, and the staff were friendly. I apologize for being honest, but I feel it's important for others to be aware.
On a positive note, the portions were generous, and the dishes were thoughtfully prepared. I left the restaurant with a full and...
Read moreI came here for my 37th birthday and we ordered the 9 course meal, which is close to €100/person without drinks. I’m someone that has the privilege and has no qualm on spending this, and potentially more, if the food is worth it. I have gone to many restaurants, many Michelin recommended as well as 1-3 Michelin stars and love to enjoy these sorts of experiences. Sadly, both the quality of the food and the service left me wishing that I had picked a different restaurant - and dare I say I think I would have been much happier with a Kurdish sandwich (at least it would have been tasty).
The pacing of the food was embarrassingly slow. We had arrived in time for our reservation and after one hour of waiting we had yet to see our second dish.
We were told by the server that the cuisine is Japanese/Ecuadorian fusion - be having grown up in Latin America and gone to Japan multiple times this menu has neither.
The closest to “Japanese” were some pickled daikon radishes, some of which were inedible salty - and this is no exaggeration by any means. It really seemed like there was some sort of screw up. Nonetheless, after telling the waitress, she thanked us politely for bringing it up yet did absolutely nothing to correct it.
The meal was largely inmemorable. I’d say the only two things that we actually enjoyed were the seasoned butter that came along with the bread and the shaved ice desert. We got served duck breast confit that was both tough, and had saggy skin and came with a beat sauce that, in my personal opinion had no business in that dish as it did not have any acidity to cut the fat of the of the duck, and the taste was mediocre. The rest of the dishes seemed uninspired at best.
To charge this amount and provide this level of quality and service are unacceptable for me, especially being in Paris where the options abound especially at this price point. I will not...
Read moreWhen I first heard about this restaurant offering a tasting menu filled with unconventional dishes, I was intrigued but slightly sceptical. After all, how often does a dining experience truly surprise you? Let me tell you—this one did.
From the moment we entered, it was clear that this was not going to be your usual dining experience. The atmosphere was intimate with a minimalist design that let the food take center stage. The staff welcomed us warmly and explained the menu's concept: a journey through bold, unique flavours crafted from unexpected ingredients.
We opted for 7 from a total of 9 courses, each more inventive than the last. One standout dish was the cauliflower, eel & gorgonzola. Another highlight was the granita, pear & shiso, an unusual combination that worked brilliantly.
Service was impeccable throughout the evening. The host provided detailed explanations for each dish, making us feel as though we were part of the creative process. Their enthusiasm for the menu was infectious and added to the overall experience.
The only downside, if any, was that the restaurant’s adventurous nature might not cater to everyone. Diners looking for more familiar or comforting flavours may find it a bit challenging. But for those willing to embrace the unexpected, this is a meal that will linger in your memory long after the last bite.
In a world of repetitive menus, this restaurant is a breath of fresh air. It pushes boundaries and redefines what fine dining can be. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for something out of the ordinary, this is a must-visit destination.
