First came to visit Lacigne when invited by a friend for lunch and have since come many times for both lunch and dinner service. The airy and unassuming space, high quality of dishes, spectacular mochi selection (no exaggeration), handmade ceramics (by one of the owners, Dai) and gentle disposition of the staff are just the right combination of charm and eccentricity that you might find in a neighborhood gem in Kyoto or Osaka…but, no! We are lucky to have it right here in Paris. I particularly love anything that has come out of the kitchen centred around tuna. It is prepared so tenderly and literally melts in your mouth - leaving you wanting more! If you have time, like others, I’d suggest omakase and pairing it with a sake flight - then, if you have room, finishing with a selection of mochi. Be adventurous - there are dependable flavours, but the unexpected offerings and their texture will really surprise you. It just might be one of the best mochi I’ve ever had…including wagashi tasting in Japan. If you are a lover of ceramics, don’t forget to look around…as much of the table ceramics are also made by Chef Dai himself. If you can’t tell, this space has a special place in my heart and would suggest it for both a solo date (with yourself) or with friends. However, if you plan on a party of 2 or more, reservations are suggested 💖

Real Japanese restaurant, the best in Paris at the moment in my humble opinion. You will feel like you’re teleported to a cute modern yet rustic place in a side street of Tokyo, discovering incredible aromas with each mouthful. I could not believe my vegetarian homemade ramen, which was exploding of yuzu, greens and mushrooms savors! The mochis are also out of this world, so delicate and flavorful! And a special 10/10 to the homemade Mont Blanc that only the Japanese can make that good. All dishes served in beautiful ceramics that will please your eyes. Friendly service is provided by the owner. I want to go...

Mochi were GREAT, very tasty and probably the best mochi I’ve ever had. Food was fine but not outstanding, very fresh fish for sure, a bit too salty. They change their menu everyday or very frequently, worth a try if you like to be spontaneous! Personally I’ll go back...
