I came this place on a prior visit to Paris, but required a reservation in advance. So before coming to France, I made a reservation through Google Maps but couldn't add another person afterwards. Limited seating available through Google Maps between 1900-2030 without having to converse in French. But seating is available for a wider time frame as well as lunch, but not through the Maps app.
Upon arriving, we gave the name the reservation was under, and seated. Their menu offer two, three course as well as single course items.
The fois gras was overly rich, I liked the fig jam accompanying it better. The duck was ordered cooked rosey or rare and it came medium rare or overcooked to my request so it wasn't very enjoyable. The fish ordered was nothing exceptional, but had a "fishy" taste to it like it wasn't fresh from that day. The chocolate mousse was overly sweet, off balance not allowing the enjoyment of the chocolate flavor to come through by overcoming the flavor with sweetness. The pepper mill grinder was of low quality and didn't grind. Coffee served didn't have sweetener available. Their food was not that good. But the service was very good for this busy place.
Shortly after being seated, a guitarist appeared performing for tips. I was annoyed by this and refused to tip for his unwelcomed intrusion for this expensive dining experience. The atmosphere was otherwise pleasant.
As expensive as the meal was, I found their food to be lacking. Just because a place is expensive does not mean the food is of great quality or vice versa. Just because the food is relatively inexpensive that the quality is low.
Even though I'm not in any way a professional food critic, I do have a critical palate when tasting good food from my point of view. And my view is what counts for me. I find others to be very laced and not very discerning from my view as far as food...
Read moreWe were recommended this by our hotel. I am not sure if we had a an off night at the this place, but the food was terrible. The pictures on Google are a far cry from what we were offered. We were not expecting much either. We had the Burratina, beef steak frites, duck breast and the cod. The burralatina was ok with a decent dressing and cheese. The tomatoes tasted old. The beef steak was ordered medium rare and came out well done, dry and chewy. I suspect this was a steak from the previous day. It looked nothing like the picture. My two kids wouldn't even eat it. The fries were fine. The cod was fishy and underdone, and it's vegetable side was overly dressed and acidic...to a point that it was difficult to eat. The duck breast and potatoes gratin that came with it was absolutely gross. I've not had a duck breast I'd say was inedible until this one and I eat at any price range of restaurant. I suspect this was an old duck breast, but worse was that the fat wasn't rendered, it was cooked medium rare but tatsed a combination of raw, metallic and chewy. I couldnt eat it and neither could anyone else at the table. The final straw was the potatoes gratin. These tasted fine but the cheese was dry and old - I think these were from the previous night or at least precooked, also disappointing. After this experience I could not recommend this place to anyone. have had much better meals at any random cafe in Paris. In the end we cut our losses canceled desert and got gelato elsewhere...
Read moreMax capacity, maybe 50. It was packed inclusive of 2 people eating at the bar that was not meant for anyone to sit at. And they were as happy as can be. Total 2 waiters and 2 kitchen staff. The kitchen is super small. We waited about 40 minutes for appetizers. Then another 45 for dinner. The absolute BEST dinner and best time EVER! Incredibly delicious. The wait was honestly ridiculous anywhere else EXCEPT for this place where time just stood still. We took all the sounds in and watched these 4 humans do the absolute best job that they could. All the while putting out some of the absolute best food we've ever had in our life. We received the new year w the rest of customers that were as engaged in the food and ambiance as we were...and the total staff of 4 superstars. Our original plan was to eat, then go to the fireworks. Welp....this, to us....was so much better. The wait staff both spoke enough English and w/a little help from Google translate, not only did we get everything we wanted, but each dish just got better than the previous. Midnight came and we all hugged and celebrated 😊 Honestly everything books write about France and everything a romance novel should be. We are just so thankful for the wonderful experience....
