I came with my in-laws visiting my wife's French family. I've worked in the service industry before and tend to forgive quite a few things as I know it can be difficult at times but the service and care to our table was unacceptable.

Firstly, we were not offered water for 30 minutes. It wasn't terribly busy but I still gave the benefit of the doubt even though I wasn't satisfied with the service to this point.

Secondly, once my food arrived (I ordered the seafood linguine) it was missing the fried oysters that was listed in the menu. My mother-in-law mentioned to the waiter this mistake as I don't speak French and the waiter, to his credit, tried to correct it. About another 15 minutes later, as my food was almost finished, I was presented a plate of what seemed like lightly sautéed oysters. The muscles in the dish already had a weird taste to them so I didn't feel confident in eating the oysters. (I was sick later that night)

Thirdly, the waiter came back and saw that I hadn't touched the oysters. He asked what was wrong and my wife explained my reservations to not consume them. He asked me if I wanted fresh oysters instead, a coffee, a dessert, etc. He did however, present these options in a very aggressive way. I kept politely responding to him that I was fine. I would have appreciated a discounted price instead but that wasn't offered. We paid full price for less than satisfactory food.

The only thing I'd say was a positive of this experience was...

Average at best. Mains of steak and mussels were ok, but not something we would order again. The main issues are with the manager. Constantly shouting orders at his staff, forgot parts of the order, delivered the starter when we were halfway through eating the main, and left our bottle of white wine on the table, in a hot day, with no ice bucket (we had to ask the barman for one, who to be fair, brought us one). One member of staff was clearly unwell, constantly coughing - not once covering their mouth - and a friend of the staff sat at the bar next to our table, taking an extended call on his phone, using speaker phone at high volume.

In addition, we sat for a long time waiting to place an order and an even longer time waiting for them to clear our plates and bring the bill.

They appear to be relying too much on their location, but with plenty of competition in the area, I’d recommend...

The staff, and particularly the gentlemen at the front door / behind the bar are exceptionally kind. I was walking along the street and stopped outside the restaurant to watch the Olympics on the big screen they had in the restaurant. The man at the door noticed and invited me in, even though I did not actually purchase anything at the restaurant. I enjoyed the Olympics for a few minutes and then left to attend a tour, but lo and behold, the tour actually was based back in that same restaurant! I said hello again to the first lovely man (sadly I did not get his name) and the restaurant was even kind enough to charge my phone whilst I did the tour. I would come back here for their amazing hospitality alone. Thank you...

We are looked for the perfect environment in Paris for our breakfast. We found it! You can order even a french baguette with butter and jam or bigger plate with ham and eggs and salad. You also get an orange juice and coffe, cocoa or chocolate for your breakfast. The quality of these unfortunately not the number one, but the experience of the brunch on that pretty market street absolutely compensate for that. The service was really friendly.
