Le Quincy — Restaurant in Paris

Awesome experience.

I can understand why this restaurant might not be to everybody’s taste. Or how the waiters/manager may come across as rude.

However. This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time.

Some of our party wanted roast beef. They were told that as foreigners they could not order that, as roast beef is the same everywhere, and they should try to experience french cooking. I understood the waiters tongue in cheek humour, and I am sure if someone had really insisted then they could have had the beef.

Orders changed to veal. What followed was an absolutely fantastic meal. The quality and quantity of the food was great. And the service attentive and well natured.

Having to pass through the kitchen to visit the toilet was certainly a first, however for me it added to the experience if nothing else. I loved it. And the chef was extremely friendly and polite despite my tipsy English speaking self trying to speak with him.

A very French restaurant. They have certain rules, for example your life will be easier if you just order what the server (or owner) recommend for the day. You can still order something else but they’ll be upset. I ordered a main course but my friend only wanted a drink and they made fun of him to other tables in front of us. We were fine with it as it was part of the experience but I get how that can upset some people. I had the rabbit- tons of onions but it was good. The escargots were great. Best dinner in my life. Don't try to replicate my steps, make them accept you in your own terms.

It helps to speak French. It helps to be cool and modest. It helps to have cash no credit cards. But nothing will let you experience the best of Paris more than Le Quincy. Have an application for French farm culture above all.

Be humble, supplicate yourself to their knowledge and appreciation of the best food. Be honest and easy and it will be beautiful.
