First day in Paris a city after all in Europe with price regulations, at least that what you’d think.. we arrived to this restaurant following Lonely Planet recommendations. First thing we were sitting there maybe 20 min waiting for attention and the restaurant is super small and they had 3 staff members working as waiters. Somehow it was more important for the staff to talk and cut some bread.. at last the waiter came and offered us a “medium bottle of wine” 34-40 euros he said for the bottle, we thought it was exaggerated and asked for a cheaper one, after all in France all wines are good. He offered us a 30 euros one claiming that it can not get cheaper than that. We agreed and the wine was good.. and finally the food arrived and it was also very good.. we asked for some bread and we got one piece of bread sliced to 2. but what makes an experience in a restaurant good or bad? Well when we asked the bill it noted “ bottle of wine “ 40€. With no speciation which bottle.. we talked to another waiter ( our was busy sitting outside) and we explained him the situation.. he could just change the price of this bottle of wine to whatever price he felt. Since we said 30 it was 30. Made us feel really sad that we were...
Read moreAmazing restaurant located on the st Martin's canal. It doubles as a wine shop. It was very nice to be eating among bottles of wine with an open kitchen. The menu was great though not extensive but they do all the dishes well and to a high standard. Competition for tables is high so booking or turning up early is recommended. The food is well presented, tasty, fresh and well thought out. The wine menu is too die for and very decently priced. Short walk away from the gare du nord and gare du elst station. We had dinner, wine with mains and starters. The kids wanted the gelato ice cream shop opposite so couldn't try their dessert. The waiters were friendly and could converse in English as well. They had an English menu. No dedicated kids menu but they were happy for the kids to share a main course and starters ( we had the sausage and mash). The mash was so good we had to order extra!!. Not to be missed if you are in the...
Read moreSo disappointed. First of all it is a natural wine bar so I expected the staff to have some knowledge about wine but when I asked for some recommendations I was told in a very rude way “all the wine that we have is in the menu so have a look at the menu”. Nice start. Okay. Then we’d decided to order all the starters that they have in the menu as we were 8 we wanted to share and see if it worth to order a main course but we were told that we have to order everything upfront including mains otherwise we wouldn’t be able to order more dishes later on. Just 2 of my friends ordered chicken for main course as we didn’t want to stay due such a rude service. Thank god cuz chicken was terrible. It was sous-vide chicken that was absolutely tasteless and undercooked. 420€ paid for 2 bottles of wine (42€ each), starters, 2 chickens that we couldn’t eat and 2 desserts. Left hungry and...
