Do NOT PICK this hotel if you want a good nights sleep. It’s cheap for a reason.
The food might be good, but nothing else about this hotel is worth staying a night.
I should have known at the beginning when the person checking us in said we were better off with a room high up because of the noise from the bar.
Well that noise is soooo loud that it keeps you awake. AND the noise doesn’t stop till 6am when the bars shut! Why they didn’t give us a room at the back of the hotel?
The worst was being woken up at 5 minutes to midnight after I had fallen asleep with the help of my white noise app in my ears…wait for it…to pay a €4 bill for tourist tax. I had to get my Google translate out and asked if I could pay in the morning! The answer was no..shop was closed and no payments could be made!!
I will be reading all reviews more closely before making bookings. I should have avoided this place as there is a review in here of the staff punching a customer for complaining!!!
So please…this hotel should not be operating where its customers need to sleep. A clear conflict between running a bar and place where people need to rest!!! Find...
Read moreI had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. I was here for three nights and had a tasty dinner in the bistro also.
Highlights: Very good location near Bastille and central Paris Lovely friendly staff - everyone was nice and welcoming Room was very clean Authentic and less touristy Fairly low cost compared to many hotels in Paris Comfortable bed Tasty home made food in the bistro (I had the home made slow cooked lamb shank which was delicious)
Please bear in mind that it is a basic hotel. My room was small with minimal facilities. I had an en-suite shower/toilet/basin and everything worked well. Pillows were a bit lumpy and some of the towels slightly frayed but clean and in plentiful supply.
I read reviews where noise is a problem but I slept quite well with the window closed - it’s a lively neighbourhood at night with people out enjoying themselves and being jolly. The neighbourhood feels quite safe.
Overall I am pleased with my stay in this warm and welcoming authentic French...
Read moreI had a reservation for one night at the hotel "Les Sans Culottes". But when I arrived in the place, a waiter of the restaurant explained to me that the hotel was unable to welcome me (despite my reservation). There was some kind of issue with the room... The guy was very light and amused by the situation. He wrote the name of another hotel ("Le Petit Bastille" next street) on a paper and told me I could go there. And as a large prince he said that everything was arranged. But in front of the "Petit Bastille", I had a bad feeling and I looked at the reviews: only poor comments and bad notations. The hotel class was not the same at all than the one I reserved for. So I had to cancel my reservation and to find a new accommodation by myself (which is quite challenging in Paris last minute). I think that the "Bistrot Les Sans Culottes" hotel does room overbooking. So if you reserve here, be aware this may not end...
