This is a great hangout for anyone who's into anime. My teenager self would've loved this so much. I think the ambiance is really nice. Yeah, it's small, but it adds to the convivial feeling of hanging out at a humble eatery when you're coming over with company. The doors were already open at 11am and we didn't see that it opened on 12 so we assumed they were already serving, but we had to wait for a waitress to tell us, and it was difficult to communicate with some of the staff due to the language barrier.
On the Sunday lunch we had, service was particularly slow. There was no indication that the lunch menu was only for the weekdays and not weekends, so we had to take a bit more time to decide new dishes to order.
The okonomiyaki was okay, nothing too special. The salmon on the inari sushi was a bit dry. My partner's katsudon didn't look very much like the picture on their menu, the eggs were too dark and clumpy. The taste was on an okay level, the quantity isn't a lot for the price you pay.
I've tasted better okonomiyaki and takoyaki at Happatei but if you want to come for the ambiance because you're an anime lover, Moemachi is a...
Read moreRestaurant with a top notch Japanese manga decoration and touch. Calm atmosphere and agreeable to eat it as well as very friendly staff. However the food itself was quite bad. I've seen people saying it's the closest japanese restaurant to Japan and Osaka traditions. I was in Osaka 2 months ago and the food is nothing like there. The takoyaki was overcooked and some parts burnt, the karage was overcooked and tasted like cardboard at some bites. We also ordered the shoyu ramen, the broth was savory but the noodles were horrible. They were super soft and tasted like packet instant noodles, completely the opposite of authentic Japanese noodles. To me it seems the restaurant is selling the whole experience rather...
