Went on rainy saturday with friend as we were craving authentic Indian street food and were overall disappointed with service and few food items. Please find detailed info below :
Service - It was okay, I think the person taking order was new. He did not understood the pronounciation of the food we were requesting and had to show the each name on the card everytime which is fine, understandable. We were craving for Masala Chai so we ordered it and were disappointed when he said he could not find it in the ordering system ( though it was available on the menu card). After some time, I had to point it out to him on ordering screen that this is what I want. Ruined our mood little bit.
Food :
Dahipuri - 10/10 Great taste. Chicken Keema Pav - 8/10 Taste was good. Paav could have been little bit more buttery. Pav Bhaji - 4/10 The curry had nothing but a tangy tomato flavour taste... Not at all what real Pav Bhaji tastes like. Had to ask for salt to balance out the tangy taste. Masala Chai - 7/10 It was okay, could have been better. Very strong Elaichi (cardamon verte) powder and Chai Masala powder in it as the name suggests.
Ambiance - Ambiance is nice but 2 seating tables are very near to each other thus very less privacy as other customers are seating very close to you and can hear your conversations.
After food Service - We felt we were being rushed to get out of restaurant once we ate as waiter was looking at us continuously barely after 2 mins...

Read moreI write this review with disappointment and a lot of love. I visited Mumbai cafe with very high expectations. As someone who lived in Mumbai for a long time before moving to Paris, the menu items greatly excited me. A place like this is sorely missing from the Parisian dining scene, and I went as soon as I could after the opening. The food was a huge disappointment for anyone who has actually eaten in India. It lacked nuance, flavour and depth and is catered to a western palette in a way that makes it very inauthentic. I understand that food probably needs to be less spicy for the target audience, but I don’t understand it lacking flavour? The iconic Bombay sandwich which is the most beloved street food in the city, it felt like it even lacked adequate salt! I hope these are teething issues and the restaurant is able to upgrade its good to exhibit how good food in India can really taste. You have the platform and the ability, I hope to see some changes because I truly wish for you to be not only successful but also a true representative of India!
Positive points: the decor was fantastic, as was...
