This is quite a tricky review to write. The food is delicious (although the portions are rather petite). I can’t comment on the dessert as we left before getting a chance to taste these for reasons that will become apparent.
The main issue, and reason for the poor review, lies with the front of house staff. We arrived for an early(ish) dinner at 7:30 pm when the restaurant was 1/2 full. Our starter arrived promptly, however after we waited 40 minutes for our main course, we politely asked if our main course was indeed on its way. The reply was ‘I hope so - we are busy what do you expect?!’ Aside from this response being abjectly rude in and of itself, the tone was overtly aggressive and dismissive. So much so, that other tables looked up in our direction. Suffice to say it ruined the remainder of the evening. As soon as it was possible, we paid and left. One member of staff did try to apologise for the way her colleague spoke to us but never-the-less we were made to feel extremely unwelcome - which doesn’t make for an enjoyable dining experience. I have never been spoken to in this way before at any restaurant, in my entire adult life. I do not think our enquiry was unreasonable in the least. This was our 4th dinner in Paris and the other 3 restaurant experiences couldn’t have been different. Every other establishment was welcoming, friendly and helpful. For the reasons outlined above we will not return here.
There are a plenty of other delicious restaurants in Paris who would be glad to have customers. This restaurant is not...
Read moreWorst experience I’ve had in a restaurant. And I’ve been to plenty. From the lowest end to the highest end and Michelin stars. So I think I owe it to those food lovers and those passionate for dining.
We have booked our dinner reservation for 9.30pm, abit too late for our liking, but since they were still taking slots then, why not.
When we walked in, they mentioned 1 out of 3 of the mains/plats was unavailable and the other main was replaced.. we thought, we’d work with that. Though I was sad that I couldn’t try the truffle pasta which I was looking forward to having. 10 mins later, while we were drinking our wine and waiting to order the food, we were informed that ONE of the mains are now available. A Ris de veau dish, not something that everyone particularly loved let’s be honest. I was beyond baffled and outraged.
To me, it’s about accountability from the establishment. If you’re not able to meet customers expectations, you shouldn’t over promise or even give someone that slot if you’re unsure you’re able to serve. We’re there to eat the mains for Christ sake. It was already too late to head anywhere so we ended up ordering 2 portions of 5 starters and shared among 4 of us. If it wasn’t for the great company, I would have walked out. We dealt with it graciously I’m glad. Despite our rage, we pulled through the whole night.
First and last visit to this very disappointing...
Read moreWould have probably been 4 stars if they weren't literally out of half of the menu when we sat down at 9:30 PM. I understand the concept of being a locally sourced, daily menu-changing restaurant based on what's available but to only have one of the mains left and 4 of the appetizers unavailable is a little ridiculous. Oh and then to top it off they ran out of the three dessert options during our meal so when it came time to order dessert that was another nice surprise.
The food we did get was hit or miss - sashimi with ricotta was just straight up weird, and the shrimp tempura was fried at too low of a temp leading to it being soggy and oily as all get-out. Bread was stale.
Service was kind and efficient, a nice atmosphere, and extremely fair prices combined with a great wine selection made this a lot better but guys - please order more of your ingredients so that the late tables can enjoy the same experience as...
