My husband and I booked a table on heated outside terrace here for our 50th wedding anniversary. When booking, stated this and requested booked for jazz in bar later. On arrival, were ushered inside (?didn’t fit the instagram profile they wished to portray?) When handed to our waiter the message of our 50y was passed on with a look?humour of shock. This ?Maitre de also returned to advise we should have his favourite octopus. I asked our waiter about this recommendation and he said “he’s silly”. Ordered cocktail my glass had very obvious chip in it. We’d waited a long time for this to arrive so were very surprised to be immediately given a ?new drink in another glass. I asked our waiter about the jazz to be told no, jazz is only on Wednesday night and we’d have to come back for this and unless eating there again, we’d have to pay 10 euros cover charge each. Then Placed food order and my duck was presented with 5 tiny Dutch carrots with a side order of soggy barely warm ‘fries’. I attempted to cut into the duck breast with the steak knife they’d supplied but the blade couldn’t cut through the white tendons of the dark red meat - not pink as ordered but raw. This was sent back with our waiter and I sat there - meanwhile hubby had finished his meal and after many reminders/ enquiries we were presented with ‘complimentary’ glasses of champagne. So we waited - and waited next to be offered any song of our choice to be performed at our table by the singer of the night then we waited (asking over & over) for the duck/chef to be checked. Finally not having touched the champagne, not having received the cooked duck, not having finished the suspicious ‘glass’ negroni and in tears I left my husband to finalise the bill and have our say as to the disappointment of our special evening. We’d planned it with care excitement and expense - we’d flown from Sydney Australia and we were shocked. We’d had one full hour starring in an episode of Faulty Towers without recompense. We arrived at 8pm and out at 9pm with no acceptable resolution. This was our one and only celebration of this style and importance. No excuses for our...
