Delightful little shop of knives The shop has a verity of purpose made knives, from kitchen knives, hunting knives, to general use knives. Environment and shop: The shop is small and quaint. Giving a very personable experience, when browsing or purchasing. It can be a very confide space when there are too many punters in the shop. Items are clearly on display and dust free. Items are not overly stacked, that it overwhelms the sensors when browsing. More lighting/direct lighting needs to be invested to accentuate the items on display. Customer service: Enzo, was very attentive, and his knowledge base was exceptional when it came to talk about the item in hand. Item – Laguiole village 10cm: Was surprised to learn the Laguole is individually crafted, and each one made is unique. Having to deciding between the 2 that was on display same size, it was noticeable the weight was different, which meant the crafts person may have kept more material on the handle, ends or spine of the knife. Apparently, the shop that stands there now, 2 generations ago made this item in house. The 10cm is small and light. The handle is elegantly thin, but wide between the wood and spine, to get your fingers around the handle for a decent grip. The texturing of the spine is delightful. The blade is thin and delicate, for more precision work. When the blade sits into the handle the profile of the knife silhouette is minimal. The item also came in a nice leather pouch. The Laguioile, just screams sophistication and elegance; something I would only have on me if I was wearing a suit or a black-tie function. In conclusion, the shop was lovely. It was nice to pick up something that you can only get in France, let alone a unique knife with allot of character. Would be interested to see more 10cm Laguiole, with bespoke handles. Ohhh and i appreciated the ruler to check the length of...
Read moreVery little could be asked more from this store and the team working there. Not only where they polite, fluent in English for those of us not sophisticated enough to know French, but they were all down right gentlemen who were funny, versed in knives and the surrounding industry, and managed to stock the place with wares ranging from common and less expensive to unique, 1 of a kind pieces. To top it all off, they weren't trying to push you into buying something you didn't really want. They just offered some suggestions when quiered and their opinions on different pieces, but that was it. I walked out with 2 pieces my visit there. I might have walked out with a third, but 5 spent quite enough in the 2 and a half weeks of my vacation, so I managed to...
Read moreVery nice quaint shop. Came in somewhat knowing what we wanted - but the staff was very helpful in solidifying our final purchase decision.
They recommended their products without being pushy and showed us a nice range of products. Showed us craftsmanship of the knife designs, the difference of what's dishwasher safe (or not safe for dishwashing) and even took the time to let us smell the wood (some of them have a unique wooden odor). We didn't expect the staff to be so thorough, so it was greatly appreciated.
