Last night, on New Year’s Eve at Terra, they lost touch of what it’s all about: creating a memorable experience.
Being part of the first shift at 19h30, we were sat at our requested spot at the bar overlooking the kitchen. We soon came to regret this choice, as the atmosphere near the kitchen was tense. Staff frequently argued right next to us, were unfriendly towards eachother and created a very stressed environment. Choosing for an open kitchen concept should come with knowing how to behave surrounded by customers.
Meanwhile we were constantly being forgotten, having to wave down a waiter to order drinks, never checking in if we were ok or needed anything. When served our food, it was accompanied only by a quick “exuse me” as the plates were placed in front of us. No “bon appétit”, rarely a little word of explanation with the dish served.
The sole objective of the staff seemed to be to get the first shift out as quickly as possible. Creating a great and memorable experience was clearly not important. We had high expectations of the food at this renowned restaurant, working with a set menu should provide the opportunity to create something amazing. Sadly, the dishes lacked depth, creativity and finesse.
At the end, while paying a whopping €360 for 2 people, we couldn’t help but mention the total absence of service, the man said it was due to us being part of the first shift of the evening, that there simply wasn’t time. If I wanted to eat fast, I would have gone to McDonalds. Making a reservation at a great restaurant in Paris on New Year’s eve is not just about having great food, it’s about having a memorable night. We booked this months in advance, really looked forward to it, only to leave disappointed and truly regretting the...
Read moreAn unworthy dining experience.
We've arrived on time and we were greeted very politely by the restaurant's staff. The environment is cozy, modern, intimate. Good spacing between the tables, nice decor.
We've ordered 2 starters and a main course. Their concept is that the main is to share. Also ordered a nice bottle of wine to pair. Each starter was around 15 EUR however they were extremely small. I had the Fish Carpaccio and my wife the Asparagus. I swear to God there were maybe 3 pieces of fish, each piece smaller than a dice. The asparagus salad was better served but still small.
That kind of set the scene for the main course. We went for their most expensive meat cut, the entrecote at 75 EUR, served with mashed and then fried potatoes and a white sauce (had coconut in it I think). Good portion size. Sauce was good. The potato was interesting. The meat was awful.
We've ordered it medium (pink in de middle) however it came very raw and bloody. I love bloody meat but that I needed to send back. When it came back it was more acceptable, but it had so much fat and nerves that it was a real struggle to eat it. Honestly spoken, any one with an iron pan and a cut of meat would do a better job preparing that at home.
We were so disappointed by the overall experience that we didn't order dessert. In the end we've paid 140 EUR for a dining experience. But even if it was 70 EUR would have been in expensive...
Read moreTonight I had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant, and it was nothing short of a fantastic gastronomic experience. The establishment offers a unique monthly changing menu that never fails to excite your palate with its innovative choices and incorporation of lots of very tasty cooked seasonal vegetables.
We ultimately chose to savor the veal dish, which was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. However, what stood out was chef Steven’s generosity, as he offered us a small portion of the lamb dish to sample, as we were having a hard time deciding what to order. The lamb was tender and flavorful, and it left us wanting more.
The wine selection at the restaurant is equally noteworthy, featuring a diverse range of options that pair wonderfully with the dishes on offer.
The cherry on top of the evening was our table location, right next to the open kitchen. This allowed for engaging interaction with the chef and provided an intriguing view of the inner workings of a professional kitchen. I highly recommend requesting this table when making a reservation.
Overall, our evening at Chef Steven's restaurant was a delightful culinary experience that left a lasting impression. If you're seeking a unique dining experience with an ever-changing menu, exceptional dishes, and a warm atmosphere,...
