Cheese was awesome, cold cuts were ok but a bit underwhelming. Staff was in general friendly, but when one of their chairs basically self-disassembled under my butt they didn't handle that very gracefully (they didn't apologize, and were actually a bit rude about that). For context: I weigh less than 80kg, and was not moving or doing anything weird with the chair.
I originally wanted to leave a generous tip, but because of this incident and how it was handled (just a simple "are you alright" would have sufficed) I opted not to.
Edit after the owner's reply: I need to correct some inaccuracies in the owner's response. I never wrote in my review that I "fell" - I managed to catch myself when the chair gave way. When I mentioned "hitting it," I was referring to my gentle attempt to push a loose joint back together after noticing the chair was coming apart - not causing the initial damage.
The owner's claim that solid wood chairs "don't break without reason" misses the point entirely: I weigh under 80kg and was simply sitting normally when the chair failed. Quality materials mean nothing if joints aren't properly maintained or secured.
What's most concerning is the defensive response rather than any concern for customer safety. A chair breaking under normal use is a liability issue - I was fortunate not to be injured. Instead of accepting this as a maintenance issue, the owner chose to imply I damaged their furniture.
I stand by my original review: the food quality doesn't excuse inadequate attention to basic safety and customer care. Perhaps the energy spent crafting defensive responses to reviews would be better invested in inspecting your furniture before someone...
Read moreThe quaint and cozy fondue restaurant was a lovely treat for our family. We enjoyed the escargot, fondue, and little table grilled meats. Portion sizes were generous. We ordered three meals which was not only enough for the four of us but we had leftovers! Of course, there’s always room to squeeze in a little dessert. Between the blueberry tart, the chocolate lava cake and some pear gelato, it was all amazing! Not only that, but our server (possibly the owner) did a great job working to communicate with us in spite of us not knowing how to speak French. We were made to feel like we had been invited into his home where he shared this meal with us....
Read morePretty good food. We were never offered bread and were charged for a bottle of water when we asked for "de l'eau", seeing others receiving tap water. We felt a little taken advantage of at that. But the cheese was pretty good and there was plenty of cheese, potatoes, and charcuterie. They were fairly busy, but seeing the service to the table next to ours (French citizens) seemed superior (us as Americans, though we speak French and have lived in France for many years). Dessert was alright.
Would consider going back, but dont expect...
