Truly awful service, enter the store and say hello, there are a few other people in the store and the store owner who is sat having a platter of cheese and ham with a friend, completely ignores us. When he finishes with his friend, about 5 minutes later, he deigns to address us. My wife, who is French, speaks to him to which he replies, in a ridiculous put on American accent, I assume because he heard my wife and I speaking in English to each other, 'I don't speak French'. In the he middle of Reims a Shop owner who apparently doesn't speak French, truly impressive. He then proceeds to tell us the store closes at 4, by this time it's 3.55. OK it's Sunday you want to close at 4 that's fine, it's understandable. Another couple walk in, including a lady who is walking using crutches, at which point he switches to his mother tongue, French and says to the lady have a seat, take your time, just let me know if I can help you with anything! OK maybe he just doesn't like people who speak English. We select a bottle of champagne that we would like to buy as it is on the shelf and ask him about it, his reply was oh 'it's difficult to explain' in French, my wife replied in French, 'that's OK we can only listen'. He then says I reserve this only for my 'good' customers and refused to sell it to us. Needless to say we left. Avoid this shop at all costs unless you wish to be...
Read moreI visited the wine shop and Jeremy twice now!! First, last year via an Airbnb experience, which turned out to be sooooo good, the other guests (strangers might I add!) and I ended up chatting and laughing all night and being politely asked to leave way past closing time :) :). The second time, was this year and I took a bunch of my girlfriends to Reims for my birthday and specifically visited Plus de Bulles for the Champagne tasting. Again, totally exceeded all my expectations as well as those of my friends. Jeremy is such a great host, so welcoming and knowledgeable. The wine selection in the shop is just out of this world, the location is gorgeous, be sure to grab an outdoor table with a view and a glass of wine, and Jeremy's recommendations and connections made my birthday long weekend one for the books for sure. My friends and I are now planning (and have already booked!!) next years' girls-trip to Reims because we had so so much fun. Highly highly recommended. And also take an extra bag for all the champagne...
Read moreUnbelievably rude. Asked if we could do a tasting in order to work out what to buy: “what is a tasting?” came the response. I asked if could try some of his suggestions in order to purchase several bottles. He continues to build into a rant: “Nowhere does this - if I did this I would close in two days” and “You just want to drink for free”. I did not expect a tasting to be free and have done 15-20 tastings (all paid for) before buying at other caves in the last two months. To cap it off, his parting shot while shouting me out the door: “** off”.
I’m sure they will post a rebuttal but that would just confirm the combative approach...
