JM's Café — Restaurant in Rouen

Pitiful “pub” without service.

Arrived as a couple on a super slow Sunday night.

The place was almost empty.

As we were to be seated by a waitress a different waiter got in our way telling her our table was “reserved” (the place was almost empty).

We changed table to a tiny one in a corner.

As the “Fete Du Ventre” had just happened we were kinda “full” on street food and just sat down for a couple of drinks and some desserts.

After waiting for 10 minutes the girl came back to take our order.

As we were telling her our order she interrupted us asking “are you having dinner?”.

We said “no, just drinks and some sweets”.

“Oh, we only serve full meals” she replied.

Well… they call themselves a “pub”… and the last time I checked pubs are place for drinking and/OR eating.

The table next to ours across the room had 3 guys having beers. No food or nothing.

She said she’d talk to the manager to “see what she could do”.

This place is located in a pretty little square with lots of interesting architecture. They were very accommodating of my limited French.

I had the Pelican Rouge beer, which was awesome! For my meal, I had Bœuf Bourguignon, which came with a side of aligot. The main dish was pretty good, but the aligot was the star of the show. I also ordered an additional side of fries, which I wasn't all that impressed by. My partner got the Monaco and the pizza, both of which were very good.

I almost got the lasagna, which looked absolutely mouth watering in the pictures on the menu, but I can't personally attest to the taste. That's probably what I'll order if I ever go back.

Overall, I would say the drinks are probably the strongest selection on the menu, but the food is...

Absolutely disgusting service and waiting times. Firstly when I asked what drinks had no sugar as I'm diabetic I got spoke to so rudely! I hadn't seen the one option on the menu or I wouldn't of asked. We waited 25 minutes just to be asked what drinks we wanted. 40 minutes after arrival we eventually had some. No food order was taken after this time yet the table next to us and 2 others that arrived after us had their order taken. Dispite us asking to order twice! Not good when you have a pregnant diabetic waiting to eat. Would not recommend at all. I don't care how busy you are, you don't speak to customers rudely or have them waiting to even order that long. 3 different staff members ignored us when we tried to...
